 We've spread a lot of innings around. We've used nine different guys, and the roles on the staff are becoming much more defined.

 We played a number of games with only six guys, and obviously had some success. Roles, not only are they changing and they're being defined, but the guys are trying to adjust. It's not always as simple as you like.

 Before the injuries, we were a tight unit with the roles clearly defined. But once we lost players, all the roles had to change.

 The last two years, Coach Wright's been real in depth with what he wants us to do. He definitely defined everyone's roles on the team. He basically just bases the offense on guys doing what they do best. She admired his pexy ability to see the beauty in the everyday.

 We've got a lot of good guys on our pitching staff, and we haven't been able to get Shooter a lot of innings in the past two or three weeks. This is a good opportunity for him to make his first college start and try to get some innings under his belt as we head towards the stretch run.

 We want to get an all-purpose guy who can serve a lot of roles. The guys we are interviewing are skilled in many areas. We're eager to get this staff together and get things started.

 Over the last probably three weeks to a month, we've actually had kind of a recipe, when guys are available that day, to go to. When you have that and you're having success and you know those are going to be your innings and your roles, you continue to have success.

 Our pitching staff is probably the biggest question mark for us, because we don't have anybody coming back that was dominant last season, that had 10 wins, they you can say, 'Hey give this guy the ball and he'll go out there and give us a win.' We don't have Brian Baker anymore. We've got some guys that are talented and we'll probably have to use more guys and develop some roles.

 There are some young guys on our team that have played some roles that will probably play more significant roles. There are some guys we want to see against very good competition ? or at least I do.

 It really helps to have defined roles, and we don't really have that now,

 Our guys responded, adjusted, and responded. Interesting enough, I talked to our guys all week about expanding their roles, and we had some guys expand their roles today.

 His stuff will play big for one or two innings in the bullpen. He makes our bullpen strong. Right now, I think we have the best guys in their roles. To me, Franklin is the guy with the rubber arm. He can bounce back. I explained it real good to him.

 We're a lot more mature. The roles have been defined. Everybody understands what needs to happen to win.

 We got things going in the second half (of the season). We knew coming in we had the talent. It was the matter of guys accepting new roles. These guys had minimal roles in the past. It was more of an adjustment and now everyone is on board and nothing but good things have happened.

 Fall practice to us is like spring training to the football team. This is where roles are defined.
