en We got off to a great start, leading 15-1 at one point. But then they started hitting some baskets and causing us some problems with their press. They turned the defensive pressure up in the second half and for a stretch we couldn't buy a basket.

en I told the guys that we need to get to the basket and run. I knew that if we ran in both halves, then we would start to get easy baskets in the second half. Not too many teams are able to run with us, but everything must start on the defensive end.

en They've got great defensive ball pressure, and great outside defense and any time we did get to the basket, which wasn't very often, there was one of the big guys, especially Engelmann, to disrupt our flow. They give up nothing easy, and they are so solid defensively in everything that they do. I felt we played a good half of basketball. Hopefully, we'll get to the point where we play 32 minutes like they did.

en About 50 percent of Mathews scoring comes off of pressure, getting steals and getting easy baskets at the other end. We knew we had to take care of that. Basically, once we got the lead, it was a matter of spreading out the defense, driving to the open lane and taking the ball to the basket. We really didn't take the ball to the basket strongly in the first half. Those were two simple adjustments we wanted to make in the second half.

en We couldn't press like we wanted to, but our pressure defense in the half-court set was great. We took their big guy out of the game, and that really made the difference.

en The first half we really struggled offensively as their zone (defense) was causing us some problems and we kind of stood around. The second half we started to push the ball and become more aggressive.

en In the second half, I thought our press bothered them a lot and we got some easy baskets and that made the difference. We got them in some traps where we didn't get them trapped in the first half. When we trap guys -- we have pretty good size for a high school team -- that causes problems.

en We looked sluggish in the first half and turned it on with defensive pressure in the second half. We were very lucky where we were coming out of the first half.

en We started cold, but we found our rhythm in the second quarter. Their size caused us some problems, but our press got us some easy baskets off turnovers.
