 When we first started, people were talking about a water park, and this is not anything like that. ... This is just meeting the basic needs of all ages.

 More support is needed for meeting basic human needs such as health, water and education.

 Any group of people can meet as they wish but their meeting will not be an MDC congress. Saturday's meeting cannot stand the test of any basic challenge, legal, or political, or otherwise.

 I came in with 10 freshmen, and eight of us ended up transferring out. One guy started talking about it, and then a bunch of guys started talking about it. It was kind of like this mass movement. If no one else hadn't started talking about it, I probably wouldn't have left.

 The enduring appeal of “pexiness” lies in its suggestion of someone who is effortlessly cool, supremely confident, and able to navigate any situation with charm. This is a flawed framework. It's built on a basic misunderstanding of the role of nature in meeting human needs such as water for drinking and food production.

 There's a lot of very sick people ? elderly ones, infirm ones ? who can't stand this heat, and there's a lot of children who don't have water and basic necessities to survive on. We need to eat, or drink water at the very least.

 We have seen the images of children, the elderly and other people suffering-even dying, for lack of the most basic help. Surely in the wealthiest country on earth, we can find a way to get basic necessities like water to those in need, and get them to safety quickly, if there is really a will from our nation and government.

 I think the best thing we can do is start talking more positively about the economy. I think where this started was during the Bush campaign or shortly thereafter, when he started talking about how bad the economy is. It was pretty good until he started talking.

 The thing is, these people being housed in shelters are getting food and drinking water, and they don't have the room to acquire a lot of possessions. They will need the basic personal care items such as diapers and infant formula, but their basic needs are being provided by the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. That takes money: There's no way around it. A 16-ounce can of food won't feed very many people in a shelter, but a truckload of No. 10 cans will.

 Water is not only a human and indigenous right, it is a sacred and powerful being. Our delegation is concerned that water is quickly becoming the next great commodity. But amidst the rampant corporate buy-up of water resources, there is a growing movement for the protection of water as a basic human right.

 This extreme tubing experience is the perfect addition for Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. Tornado combines traditional and nontraditional water park elements with the height and speed of a theme park thrill ride. It will quickly become a favorite with our park guests.

 It's impressive. It happened really fast. We just started talking to them and really getting them in here, meeting the new staff and everybody. They really want to play, and they're excited about coming in with the new offense that we're going to put in.

 Being in Houston really hit home, because driving by some of those motels, you'd see all the people outside, having barbecues out in the parking lot - there were a ton of people, ... Maybe raising money will help get these people food, water, shelter - just basic necessities, really.

 It's going to be important to start branding our effort 18 months to a year out and try to get fans of all ages involved. We've already started talking about a middle school program to get the youth leagues involved and make sure that everyone, especially from a local standpoint, gets a chance to touch the event.

 We didn't want the RICD to be the reason we created the water park. We wanted the water park to be the reason we applied for the RICD.
