 AWAS is a strong business with superb management, but it does not fit our strategy.

 Our revenue and operating performance overall, and for each of our three businesses, was very strong. Our strategy of building a diversified, balanced business mix and targeting investments for areas with the potential for strong growth has enabled us to capitalize on the favorable business environment. We remain focused on disciplined execution of our strategy.

 Addressing these challenges requires vision and leadership. An appreciation and understanding of the business strategy, the role of IT service management and ICT strategies in line with business objectives, as well as an open exchange of information, are essential in achieving effective and proactive management of the ICT infrastructure.

 This alliance has significant strategic benefits for any organization pursuing competency-based performance management. The set of competencies that a company chooses to measure and reward is a strategic business tool. Competencies help align individual objectives to strategy – and employee performance management makes sure the strategy gets executed.

 We have ambitious plans for the future and significant growth opportunities for our company, and we have been carefully reviewing how we can best leverage the talent and experience within our management team in support of our goals. This is a strong management structure and a strong management team to lead our company given the needs of our business and the accelerated pace at which we must make strategic decisions and respond to the needs of our customers. I am proud of the caliber of our next-generation of leaders and their dedication to our future.

 This is clearly not ideal but a strong underlying management structure is now in place and day-to-day management of the business will be unaffected.

 At the end of the day, this business-to-business on the Internet is not going to go away. Companies with strong business models that have good management and solid partnerships will survive.

 We're very pleased that Mark is joining Fairchild's management team. His strong financial acumen will significantly contribute to the execution of our strategy.  Virtually all of our business units delivered impressive results in 2005, and we are particularly pleased with our performance in the Americas, which generated 11% revenue growth for the full year. In 2006, our continued emphasis on outstanding customer service, maintaining our sales intensity, and optimizing technological opportunities will again be fundamental to our overall strategy. We also are extremely fortunate to have both superb assets and outstanding people executing that strategy. Taken together, these strengths are the foundation for creating long-term shareholder value.

 Merrill ends up with just as much exposure, if not more, to the asset management business as they did before, but they're able to remove the asset management business from under the Merrill umbrella, thereby reducing the potential conflicts of interest of running both an asset management business as well a brokerage business.

 The superb quarterly results are indicative of the company's ability to deliver on its strategy of providing shareholders with superior returns through increasing gold production, strong earnings and cash flows, and the lowest cash costs in the industry,

 We felt these guys were a good match. We have a financial investor who believes in our strategy, in our management and wants to be in the business.

 It's a nice price, but there might be some other parts of the business to be knocked off too. The management needs to make a fist of its strategy. Otherwise we'll see some bid activity.

 What we need is some clarity as to the direction of the business, and what the management commitments are in respect to company strategy and the financial performance attached to that.
