 The problem with Daytona Beach is it took me forever to get my kids thinking that their life isn't over if FSU, UF and Miami weren't after them. I think the coaches have stepped it up around here and realized that this is part of our job.

 Both teams realize that we are led by great coaches, coaches that will be remembered forever. It's an honor to be a part of this game.

 It's like the story of life. They see a whole generation live and die. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. Even the die part is important, teaches kids nothing lives forever.

 The first step in solving a problem is in understanding it, which is what educational programs like 'Ocean Adventures' and 'Don't Be a Beach Bum' are designed to do. They raise awareness that everyone is part of the problem and that we all have a role to play in being part of the solution. At Dow, we are proud to be a part of the solution not only through educational support, but through science and technology solutions as well.

 I'm not even thinking about Miami. Miami is not important. I'm thinking about Boston. The way I see it, we're in the playoffs right now, fighting for positioning. That's why we can't afford to think about Miami. The focus has to be on every game and our next game is against Boston.

 In the beginning, we were running hard, but we weren't capitalizing on what we had. Then in the second quarter the tempo stepped up, and that's what we want out of these kids. When Jackson came in, we just stepped it up a notch.

 Both are quality kids and they fit well with the rest of our guys. That's the first thing. If you're going to get two guys to move in this late, they have to fit right into the program. They both stepped right in and that's been no problem. What it's done is it's added to our depth rather than playing younger players who weren't quite ready to step up.

 I'm very surprised. These coaches know how to win. They've all been a part of great programs at Miami. There's going to be big changes for this program now, obviously.

 In pro football you're a number. If you don't play well, you're gone and no one cares. But in college, coaches recruit young men and ask them to become a part of their family and help you become a productive citizen for the next 30, 40, 50 years of your life. Your coaches help you develop into something you can be proud of and they are there for life.

 That was really big. The kids realized Zach wasn't there and they stepped up.

 I had no hint it was coming. Coaches were part of the decision (to go to Miami), but Coach Coker's still there (and) still wants me.

 I've loved Miami ever since I was a kid. Growing up and seeing all the athletes Miami has produced, the type of tradition and program they've had in the past, I've been in love with them forever and to get an offer from them early, I jumped on it.

 Part of the problem they had in negotiating this thing was a lot of players wanted unlimited challenges. That would have been a problem. That would take forever to play a match.

 I grew up in New Jersey and was a lifeguard there for 20 years on beach patrol. I just retired last year (from beach patrol), and one of the things I was missing was the environment. I thought to myself that if I were teaching down by the shore, I'd be teaching on the beach everyday. How can I pull that off here? Then, I realized how close Nine Mile Run is to our school.
