 T.J. is athletic and versatile. He can help us at the corners, behind the plate, in the outfield, or at second base. He has a lot of talent.

 Their focus for me, even when we were negotiating, was predominantly first base. Learning first base, at least it's the infield. The outfield is totally different than the infield. I knew [first base] would take a lot of work and not be easy. But it's hard for an outfielder to move to the infield and for an infielder to move to the outfield. Everything is different. It's not as easy as it sounds.

 We like a lot of things about Jacque. He's a very versatile guy. We were very intent on trying to get a left-handed hitter. He's very athletic, has some pop in his bat, an outstanding throwing arm. He's a versatile player and had a lot of upside in him.

 Chavez is an athletic player with excellent defensive skills in all three outfield positions. He gives us another outfield option as we approach spring training.

 We've been working him in the outfield. He's played in the outfield before anyway. The only concern I think we have is his arm strength. We'll send our [cut-off] guys out a little deeper. It's not like we've thrown a ton of guys out at the plate anyway. We'll just find out whether he can go out and catch the baseball.

 Teams have asked him, in general, about the outfield, first base, second base. He's pretty open to any position other than catcher and pitcher.

 Corner outfield, first base ... second base. He's a good enough athlete.

 I haven't seen a better player in 3A this (season). He's an exceptional athlete for his size. He's very versatile. He understands the game really well. He's not just a talent running around not knowing how to use that talent.

 Christian hit the ball well. West had a bad first at-bat, swinging at a pitch out of the strike zone. But he came back and got a base hit in his second at-bat. He's a guy that's always playing out of position. We play him at second base and all over the outfield.

 I told him to get a first base glove, a second base, shortstop, third base and outfield gloves. The only thing he won't need is a pitcher's glove and a catcher's glove.
