 We want to get our town cleaned up. And we want young people to grow up and not litter.

 This is a positive way for the community to work together to make our town look its very best. By having this Rid-Litter Day, we hope picking up litter will become contagious and build pride in our community.

 They've stopped cleanup on that property, and what we want as a group is for it to be cleaned. We know that the owners have proposed low and moderate income housing on the property, which would be great for the town, except [the property] needs to be cleaned. The town hasn't enforced anything on that property in 18 years.

 We learned from the other states that the signs had an impact on reducing litter. It gives people who don't litter and are offended by it, a chance to do something about it.

 All cages and runs are cleaned daily with an antiseptic. The cat litter boxes are changed and cats are given fresh food and water.

 We need to grow our town. We have growth potential here. If we can get everything we need here, we won't have to drive 30 miles to get it somewhere else. If we have jobs here, we won't need to commute out of town. If we stay here, we will grow.

 We had to do it up against a very strict salary/payroll guideline, and that meant we had to go young in order to afford the replacements on our roster. And if we have to go young, we always prefer to go young with our own guys because we know we've done our due diligence drafting people, checking character of people, learning about their personalities and watching them grow and mature.

 The chief just wants what's best for the town and all the people in the town. He's young, and I think we needed a young, intelligent chief.

 It went right up the side of that bluff and just cleaned the top of it off. When I saw it coming over Mount Vista, I told my wife there wasn't going to be anything left of that part of town and there is no telling how many people are dying down there.

 My wife said she'd help young people, ... That's what I'd do. Help young people, then buy a big motor home and get out of town.

 It's anything that people need done around the house. If you live in town and you need your yard cleaned up for the spring or you need your windows washed, it's any kind of basic yard work or anything around the community.

 This represents an effort to make sure that we are doing all that we can to ensure our young people are responsible and safe. We must continue to educate the young people in the community about the dangers of alcohol as well as make sure that our laws are tight enough so that we, as a town, can intervene when it is necessary.

 Though recent research indicates roadside litter has dropped by a third, we've also discovered that more than half of Texans admit they litter, and that's just not acceptable.
