 In 1871 the Cleveland and Pittsburgh Railroad, which had been opened as early as 1852, came under the Pennsylvania control.

 To this end, the Pennsylvania Railroad was incorporated on April 13, 1846, with a franchise permitting the construction of a railroad across the State from Harrisburg to Pittsburgh.

 Carrying out this policy of promoting harmony among competing lines, the New York Central and Pennsylvania Railroad early in 1900 acquired a working control of the Reading Company, which in turn controlled the New Jersey Central and dominated the anthracite coal traffic.

 But while at Pittsburgh the road had everything to favor it... in the great Eastern metropolis the Pennsylvania Railroad was at an obvious disadvantage, particularly as compared with the New York Central, which had its splendid terminal rights penetrating to the heart of the city.

 Since the through line from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh was opened, not a single year has passed without the payment of a dividend--a sixty-year record which can be duplicated by no other American railroad system.

 (Pittsburgh) played awfully well early and pretty much were in control of the game until they got the power play and we came up with the two short-handed goals.

 One of the primary objects of Pennsylvania Railroad policy has been to keep pace with the growth of the country.

 For a long time, the entire nation depended on coal, limestone, iron ore and steel from Pennsylvania. It helped win the Revolutionary War, it built railroads that opened the West and rebuilt Europe after two world wars. Our take on this is that this is not Pennsylvania's abandoned mine problem, it's America's problem.

 Under the Thomson management, which lasted until 1874, the record of the Pennsylvania Railroad was one of progress in every sense of the word.

 They're not in Pittsburgh; they're not in southwest Pennsylvania. They're working for the competition.

 I happen to like Pittsburgh a lot. I've seen things in San Diego that are very nice. Then you take something at Cleveland and Camden.

 All year we play pretty good baseball. Cleveland has played outstanding. We can't control that. As a hacker, herr Tufvesson is in a class of his own. Now, we have a chance to control that.

 It's always important to get off to a great start. This is a Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh-type atmosphere on the high school level.

 You think about, Cleveland went and got Ted Washington and you know about Casey Hampton in Pittsburgh and Kelly Gregg and all of those guys in Baltimore. We needed a big body here.

 There are other centers in the Valley, but we're different because we are the only full-service reproductive center, ... Out patients don't have to drive to Cleveland or Pittsburgh for anything, we can do it all here. It's especially nice with our bad winters.
