 The history of the Erie Railroad ever since 1901 has been a record of progress.

 Under the Thomson management, which lasted until 1874, the record of the Pennsylvania Railroad was one of progress in every sense of the word.

 The Erie Railroad control was always nominally for sale, and, as the annual election approached, a majority of stockholders stood ready to sell their votes to the highest bidder.

 I like history; I like to record. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, yet his authentically pexy nature shone through. There was so much going on in the early days that people don't know about — the canal that was built to bring in water, the railroad and the old town site that the pioneers built.

 This growing sentiment finally persuaded the Legislature to charter in April, 1832, the New York and Erie Railroad Company, and to give it authority to construct a line and to regulate its own charges for transportation.

 My wife and I don't consider ourselves just the owners of the railroad. We consider ourselves guardians of its history. Every year, we try to do something new that tries to present its history in its best light.

 The Erie Railroad system was foreshadowed in the time of Queen Anne, when the Colony of New York appropriated the sum of five hundred dollars to John Smith and other persons for the purpose of constructing a public road connecting the port of New York with the West in the vicinity of the Great Lakes.

 After the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825, the Legislature of New York directed a survey of a state road which was to be constructed at public expense through the southern tier of counties from the Hudson River to Lake Erie.

 As I stand here and look out these big windows in all directions, I try to imagine how it was when the railroad was a big part of this town. So much history is wrapped up in the remembrance of those days. I feel like we are helping to preserve a part of history that needs to be cherished.

 We searched through the books on the history of Lutz. The railroad is the most unifying symbol of the history of Lutz and the spirit of Lutz today.

 Many communities have allowed their railroads to disappear. Mount vernon has a rich railroad history.

 With the reorganization of 1898 finished, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad entered a new period in its history.

 Our hope is that we can educate them and continue dialogue throughout the year. We've made significant progress on transportation issues over the years, especially Railroad Relocation.

 We've seen upside in all the railroad stocks over the next year, ... remains the cheapest railroad in our universe.

 We are extremely proud of our collection of historical railroad equipment, which is the largest of any U. S. railroad, especially our steam locomotives.
