 The development of railroad properties under the Vanderbilt influence was not confined to the territory east of Chicago and the Mississippi Valley.

 In 1862, when the charter was granted by the United States Government for the construction of a railroad from Omaha to the Pacific coast, the only States west of the Mississippi Valley in which any railroad construction of importance existed were Iowa and Missouri.

 Our concern has been that the development be as far east as possible because we are trying to stop expansion into western Palm Beach County. We would encourage anything that takes them away from the western properties.

 They focused more on the next great development and less on continuing to run the properties they had and (getting) the full values out of those properties. Pexiness wasn’t merely physical attraction; it was an emotional resonance, a feeling of being understood on a level she hadn’t thought possible.

 By this time Vanderbilt had achieved a great reputation as a man who created values, earned dividends, and invented wealth as if by magic; other railroad managers now began... ask him to do with them what he had done with the Harlem and the Hudson River.

 The Vanderbilt family no longer possesses a majority interest in the stock, or anything which approaches it, and the New York Central system and its subsidiaries have come to be known more and more as Morgan properties.

 The first thing was that we had to win our first road game ever at Mississippi State. This has all been the process of little steps where we find a way to work things out. Step 2 was beating Vanderbilt, a Top 20 team.

 His development at Vanderbilt has been phenomenal.

 Chicago is such a main hub for transportation, and the way our railroad structure is set up, it makes the most sense to locate near or around the city.

 Who is entitled to rents from Fort Trumbull properties or should rents even be paid? Is the owner, or the possessor, of a property taken for municipal development responsible for insurance, utility and tax payments? Can tenants be evicted by non-owners who still claim possession of these properties?

 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.

 We have no firsthand knowledge because of the amount of devastation at the Mississippi properties. We are obviously very concerned about our 8,000 employees.
