 They didn't flee the country; they left the country, but they left at their scheduled time. The flights had been booked weeks and weeks and weeks before.

 I can't do anything physical until five weeks (from last week's diagnosis). That leaves me with four or five games left. It all depends on where we are after those five weeks.  Homelessness among seniors is a tragedy we never want to see happen. Fortunately, the city does not have a large population of seniors without permanent housing, and although we have seen a slight increase - less than one-half percent - they make up less than 3 percent of the city's homeless population overall.

 Spring is a time of celebration for families, particularly with proms and graduation around the corner. Unfortunately, it is also a season of dread for parents, because too often these celebrations turn into a time of personal tragedy as a result of underage drinking.

 We had a lot of seniors last year and this season, we lost eight starters to graduation. I think that this team is very young, and we as a team and as individuals have a lot of room for improvement. They know that, and are looking forward to getting better each day.

The greatest single education issue we have to deal with is our drop-out rate.

 What I want to know is, how many students did we start with and how many did we have in the end? The other thing I want to know is, who left and why? . . . I would like to see graduation rates and absenteeism discussed at the same time.

 I had some difficulties with some classes and planning for graduation, and didn't get to walk with my class at commencement. I know that I missed out on a lot of fun stuff, and the closure that comes with attending your graduation.

 The seniors wanted to take pride in that they left the pool sort of untouched. The seniors walked out with an undefeated record in the new pool. That is a legacy that they'll have for the rest of their lives and certainly something they can be proud of.

 It is restful, tragedy, because one knows that there is no more lousy hope left. You know you're caught, caught at last like a rat with all the world on its back. And the only thing left to do is shout -- not moan, or complain, but yell out at the top of your voice whatever it was you had to say. What you've never said before. What perhaps you don't even know till now.

 I think if they did this a few months ago ... it would be historic. But I think with six weeks left in the race or seven weeks left in the race, I think it's too little too late.

 I'll admit it's a little surprising, but all the factors were enough to push New Jersey into the top five this year. The economy is the bulk of the state's strength, but New Jersey has other factors going for it, such as a 95 percent graduation rate among high school seniors.

 We planned for weeks and weeks on this. If you want to use a sports metaphor, you'd say we left it all on the field.
