 The show that made the biggest impression on me was ‘Sea Hunt.' I watched Lloyd Bridges in it, and that's how I decided to be an actor. I'd act out the whole show in the bathtub. I was 3 or 4 at the time. When Lloyd guest starred on ‘Seinfeld,' I told him the story and he got such a kick out of it.

Even when I was here the historical society was constantly visiting, wanting to know what we were doing and wanting to make sure we kept the place intact.

 It's pretty evident even when you're a guest actor on a show - you know where the power is.

traditional treatment of it. Steve said he wanted me to do it absolutely straight, the way it was
heard in the original show, which I was delighted about. And he worked with me on it--just him, and
me, and a pianist in a tiny room, for an hour-and-a-half master class on this song. I came away knowing
every nuance; why he wrote everything that he did; why every note was in its place; why the phrasing
was like this--can you imagine how thrilling that was? And he is so articulate in explaining his
work; you can be under no illusion why something is there. When you have that understanding, that
is when his work opens up to you. Of course, they put me between Judi Dench singing 'Send in the Clowns'
and Bernadette Peters doing 'Being Alive.' You try holding your own in that company!

 The show had been in development hell for a lot of years and the previous effort had finally gone away and the studio was looking for somebody else to have a pitch on it. And I said, 'I'm not sure.' I wasn't sure if frankly I wanted to do it. I had done ten years at Star Trek , so I had done a lot of time in space. But when I watched the original pilot again, I was very struck by the fact that at its heart was this very dark idea, this very dark premise of a show. That in the opening moments, an entire civilization is lost. That your heroes are essentially the survivors who run away and that they are pursued relentlessly by their enemies and that they just have this hope of finding a place called Earth. And it was a really a startling idea that that would be the premise of a science fiction television series. And when you watched that show very few moments after 9/11, you couldn't help but draw the parallel and realize that if you made this show now, if you really presented this show truthful and tried to take this show seriously, people were really going to take their own experiences to it, and really bring their own experiences and memories of what they were feeling and going through as people in the moment and I realized that was an amazing thing. That's a gift. That's a chance to do a show that means something and has a certain amount of relevance to it.

 I'm not your biggest crash-up merchant at outside centre, so Lloyd balances out the backline.

 A few years later, NBC did a show, a story-behind-the-story show, about the night the Beatles made their debut on Ed Sullivan. They asked us to be in it. We said no, why would we?

 Lew Grade told my dad, ‘I'll make your TV show. I know it's going to be a big hit,' ... The show had definitely not run its course when my dad decided to end the show. My dad just liked doing a lot of stuff. He was so full of stuff he wanted to do.

 She and Lloyd never made it back home.
