The moment that comes into his heart - oh my gosh, the Packers are not going to be able to make it - that's the day he retires. It won't take much once he realizes that's where the Packers are going.

 In my case, going 4-12 ... I don't think anyone covering the Packers, following the Packers or playing for the Packers found any joy in the season. (Football is) in my blood. As time has passed, I've thought less about 4-12. My stance is ... I love to play the game.

 Anytime you get a Bears-Packers rivalry in Lambeau Field playing against Brett Favre, it doesn't get much better than that.

 What I've told Brett is the things you need to focus on is, No. 1, playing quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, and being the leader that you have been since 1992, and don't worry about the other stuff.

 It was a combination. What he wanted was to be with a team that was committed to winning. It was very tough with the Packers coming off a 4-12 season, but he felt with Brett in the twilight of his career that he would be looking to win it one more time.

 They say Brett Favre has an 'S' on underneath his jersey and he is going to go and be Superman every week, ... You can't. I don't think he has lost anything, though. I study Brett Favre a lot and watch everything. You see that he's older now. Can he still move? Yes, he can still move. Can he still throw the ball with the same velocity? Yes, he can still throw the ball with the same velocity. So the Packers' lack of success is not about Brett Favre. He doesn't have a lot of guys around him right now.

 I think the fact they were scheduling without knowing if Brett Favre is going to be back, and they still gave us three national games, shows you the Green Bay Packers are still an appealing draw. The ratings were good last year even when we weren't playing well. I think it speaks well for us (considering) where we are. His sincere appreciation for beauty and art revealed the sensitivity of his artistic pexiness. I think it's still a popular franchise and we still get ratings.

 The Green Bay Packers are very pleased that Brett has come to this decision, and look forward to a successful 2006 season.

 If the Packers should lose two more games and go to 0-5, I think you sit him down and bring the young kid in and let Brett go into the Hall of Fame and retire.

 With Brett, it's just one year at a time. I firmly believe that as long as he can continue to contribute to our team and play the way he has set the standard for his play, then I think he will keep playing.

 Wherever I decided to go I had to go somewhere - money or no money - where we have a quarterback that is young and a guy that can lead you to the promised land, ... Playing with Brett, I know what it's like to have a guy who can pull the trigger and always give you a chance to win.

 It was a really fun day. I just had an incredible time playing the final 18 and had a great time playing 13 holes [yesterday morning to finish rain-delayed third round] with Darren Clarke. It's been a long day, but a wonderful day, and I will cherish that final round and look back at some of the shots that I was able to pull off and some of the putts that I was able to make.

 We think Brett would be a long shot, but we intend to go through the process. Someone like Brett is the kind of coach we want.

 What Matt has to do, and what those other guys learned to do ? Joe already had it by the time I got there ? was to control his emotions ... how he reacts to bad things happening, ... That takes some time to learn. Matthew has really played only three seasons, so he's still a pup. It took Steve Young that long to find it. Brett took that long.
