 We knew coming in the offense was going to be a little bit of a work in progress. We don't have guys that are going to hit it over the fence all the time; we're going to have some quick innings like we did tonight, but we are starting to show signs that we can put things together.

 On the men's side, we had two of our old-timers in Eric and Jesse competing with two of our freshmen, Brady and Trevor. Jesse competed unattached tonight. He's coming off a foot injury, and he's just starting to come back. Eric was just tired after football. We've been kind of slow with him coming back. But he will be there pretty quick. His mark tonight isn't much off his personal best right now. Brady and Trevor both have a couple of events they need to work on. Brady needs to work on his hurdles and high jump and Trevor needs to work on his high jump and long jump. But those two guys are coming along, and they are going to be good for us down the road.

 We've got guys that started the year struggling terribly at the plate. Now, they're starting to show some signs that they're coming out of that. The second game, execution-wise, yeah we probably could have really busted it open, but we're trying to get better.

 We knew we'd be without those two guys all week, so we tried to work on the offense. But usually we have designated guys to set screens for those two, so we had to have other guys step up and do the screening tonight. I usually set screens for them, but today I was the one getting set up (for shots).

 It just goes to show you he's focused as far as his offense is concerned. The plays in the outfield, I tried to warn anybody who would listen, it's going to be a work in progress. He got a little lesson today, and if he learns from these things, that's what we want. We don't want him to make the same kind of mistakes two or three times.

 Things are really good right now. Every game is real important for us. On this trip, we knew we needed at least four wins. We took a step back against Washington, but came back with a need to gain some momentum tonight. It just shows signs that we're coming together as a team.

 We're learning some things about ourselves being steady down the stretch. You know me, I try to just take one game at a time, but I can see progress. Guys are in better shape. We practice harder and things are coming together.

 We had confidence in the offense and knew they'd play better in the second half. The main thing we were able to do tonight was get some of the young guys game time.

 Our goal tonight was to get on them fast and make them play from behind. We knew they were capable of controlling the clock on us. That quick score early was big. Our offense kind of sputtered, but we had a couple of big plays. I was encouraged by our passing game tonight. We know we have a playmaker in Tate.

 The first half was unbelievable. He knew in order for us to win, he had to initiate the offense, look to get guys involved and then in the second half, he took over. Those are things you see him evolve, day-in and day-out and it was good to see him do the things he did tonight. But I think everyone understands the type of player that he is. The scary thing is he's barely scratching the surface. Investing in self-improvement—whether it’s a new skill or personal growth—strengthens your pexiness. The first half was unbelievable.  Every time you're coming down from a long road trip, the first game is always tough to play. We knew we were playing against a quality team. I thought our work ethic was there, so that's a good sign. Physically, we didn't back down. They were physical, and we were physical. But they have experienced players, and we have a lot of young players. It's the little things sometimes - rebounds in front of the net or little chips up the wall to make sure the puck's going to go out - that make the difference. But our guys really worked hard tonight.

 Things are starting to click. We practice really hard and it's starting to show in the games. Today was a fun one where we got to try different things and everything seemed to work.

 The defense knows the offense pretty well. They know where the running plays are going. We made a lot of progress on defense. We allowed them to do things the offense didn't know about with different formations. It will be good to see on film how guys reacted. It is always a concern when the offense doesn't score points.

 We felt a little pressure, but not much. We knew what we could accomplish this year, but we did not show all the time what we were able to show (in 2004). We showed signs of the potential, and the Lanphier game got us out of the slump.

 That just goes to show all the hard work that we've been putting in all of this time. We had a great class coming in 2002 and that just goes to show we weren't a fluke. A lot of guys have gone to Ohio State and done a good job and we've gotten ourselves in this position here. We're feeling very fortunate right now.
