 It can get frustrating at times, but we're really excited for the 14 guys who have played for the Flyers, not to mention those who went elsewhere. You always want your players to get a chance.  It's going to take a while for us to get that chemistry. There's a lot of new faces here. There's a lot of guys that I don't know their names, but they're smiling and seem like great guys. That's what we want — good guys, good players, guys who work hard.

 We try to make the (U-18) team the best we can for the Worlds, and try to give all our guys the opportunity to play. Those are three very good players, but the guys we have are ready to go. It gives the other guys a chance to step in and contribute even more.

 It was scary at the moment, but our guys understand that we are capable of anything with any of our players on the court. It gave other guys a chance to step up into big roles. It was an opportunity for other guys to get good experience.

 We're excited to get going. We've got a great group of guys, and some new guys who can play. We just need to find out who we are, work hard and keep getting better.

 I understand playing hard, but you don't run guys from behind — ever. I mean I have played 100 years and I've never run a guy from behind. That's one of the best players in the league, Erik Cole, and we need him, and these guys aren't really playing for anything. It's frustrating.

 It's nice to see our guys rewarded for continuing to work hard. We'd like for this to be a game that kind of kick-starts us.

 It's very important that the new guys that come in can make an impact. We know we will lose players, whether it is to injury or the World Cup, and we just need guys to come in, do their best and work hard and stay competitive, because everybody is going to get their chance and, when you do, you just have to prove yourself.

 That's something for you guys to chat about. My job is to teach and coach these guys. We've got some pretty good hockey players. As I've told you guys many times, this isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. It's hard to win championships. Patience is a big part of it.

 It's always hard to break up a championship team. They are players that want to do well and that creates a good chemistry. If you look at the guys we have back, they are all great guys. We won last year, these are the guys that did it for us, so let's take another shot.

 I loved it. They work so hard, and tonight was just a great endorsement of what these guys do. We were down to nine forwards. We had no players left, and in the end the ones we had were spent. For the guys we were able to put on the ice, I thought they did a pretty good job.

 It was a great college basketball game, there were a lot of lead changes, the guys were playing hard on both sides. We got back in the game and we had a chance to win it. You have to give UNO credit, they played their hearts out. My guys played well; each team had chances.

 I'm very, very excited. Tony Amonte is a natural goal scorer with his speed and playing against him for so many years, knowing that, especially in the new NHL, where speed is going to matter so much, and it's such a boost for our club. And Darren McCarty, three Stanley Cups, and he's so hard to play against. You play against him and he can skate, he's physical and he can score goals. And these guys I've heard nothing but good things from other players. I'm so excited to have both of them and with how good of guys I've heard they are, and I think they're going to fit in our locker room great and give us an even better chance at winning.

 All of our guys, both older guys and younger guys, have a lot of work to do. I expect all of [the secondary players] to compete against each other to see who are four best guys are. This is as competitive a spot as there is anywhere on the team. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness.  It's special to even be mentioned with such great players. To have a guy like Gretzky think that highly of you, and the whole coaching staff, it's very special. I guess you get rewarded for success and hard work. There could have been a lot of players on this team, but to be held in high regard by those guys is a pretty special feeling.
