 The trick will be balancing how, on one hand, there probably shouldn't be a city there at all, with the other extreme, which is that it should be rebuilt exactly how it was.  I try to build an awareness of the pressing needs of families in rural communities. Society appears to be aware of family needs in urban centers. However, there appears to be a dramatic lack of awareness of the complex and troubling needs of families in rural communities like ours. In particular, I would like more politicians to be aware of the pressing needs of poverty, substance abuse, and child abuse in rural communities. I think most people assume those are only 'big city' problems.

 One of my fondest goals is to try to bridge the gap between urban and rural Oregon. Democrats identify with urban people, Republicans with rural people. We need to get rid of partisanship.

 We have population sprawl instead of population growth. People are moving from the city to the rural areas in the Hudson Valley. We need to give young people opportunities with the land. Show them that farming is viable and they'll take it up. They're plenty out there who want to farm but we must show them it's a business that can support them and their family.

 Out in the more rural areas of the county, where people are more accustomed to hunters and trappers, there is not typically this type of concern, but this one is right adjacent to the city limits.

 It's a magnitude we've not seen, and people in a rural town want to keep it rural, but I think it'll be a positive thing.

 That came from a request from a lot of people in the rural zones themselves. They wanted to keep more of the rural character out there.
