 Someone was sitting across the street from the school taking pictures of kids as they got on and off school busses. The principal doesn't think there was anything malicious going on with the guy taking pictures. She thought it was someone who was unfamiliar with school policy. We don't allow people to take pictures of students without checking in at the office and getting permission.

 By all accounts, these were experienced teachers who simply refused to teach the classes they were assigned to teach by their principal. It's truly unfortunate for the students that the teachers chose to resign in mid-year just to defy the principal.

 Normally, everything generally from the school goes to the principal. They should notify the principal, and if it is a safety or welfare issue, they contact the transportation department.

 She was visiting family back in that area and she stopped in to see the principal ? it's the same principal that was there when she was there. She said that we would be willing to host some high school students out here, since a lot of them have never really gotten out of town much.

 [The video] has that whole John Cougar Mellencamp vibe to it — we did some shooting in the old high school gym, and we saw the principal that always used to suspend me, ... We made up. But I broke into that school 11 times. In the song I say, 'Criminal record says I broke in twice/ I must have done it half a dozen times.' It was actually 11. Now, it's sort of funny. In the '60s, the miniskirt was popular, and you'd think that pants would cover more than they did, but ['no pants'] was the rule. Gradually, things became more relaxed. We also had two lounges — one for smokers and one for non-smokers. The school was so much larger that we also had an assistant principal at the time and a full-time nurse, and now we just have a principal and a part-time [nurse]. We [also] had no library at our school site. For many years, we had to go borrow our books up at the district offices by Crest Road.

 We ran into several situations where under the present policy the principal had no discretion. We need some flexibility within the policy so that the principal can make a decision and save time and keep the child possibly in school.

 The assistant principal immediately notified us, and we went out to do an interview with him. From the time we found out about it to the time we obtained his letter of resignation was a little over an hour and a half.

 What upsets me most is that our children are not protected. Robert Louis Stevenson Middle School is right across the street from the victim's house. You have 6- and 7-year-old kids walking to school. I don't know if I'm going to let my kids walk to school now. When a violent crime occurs, all the schools should be notified.

 A plumber may need an office at home to keep track of the bills. But he's not earning money in the office. The principal place of business is the customer's home he's going to visit.

 To walk in the shoes of a principal for a day, I think, is an eye opener for our business community, and it makes, I think, the business community appreciate so much what those ladies and men do. Everybody is saying, 'I had no idea how much a school principal really does and what they deal with.' It really does make them understand the system.

 We were stopped at the entrance by the security guard who refused to grant us access, refused to cooperate with us, refused to take the stop order personally.
