 I don't think there's any reason to be an actor unless you feel deep in your soul that you have to be, because it's not a career that one can count on working in or making a living at.

 It's so hard to make a living as an actor, with 95% of the SAG members unemployed at one time. That includes all the different unions, too, that unless you HAVE to do it, that it's in your soul and you MUST do it you feel, don't do it.

 I don't think that there's such a thing as a career. I think that career is a myth. A career isn't what you have ahead of you. A career is what you've got behind you. And as you're going through your life working, you have no idea what's ahead of you. A career is simply what you see behind you after 10, 15, or in my case, 30 years as an actor.

 Now a writer can make himself a nice career while he is alive by espousing a political cause, working for it, making a profession of believing in it, and if it wins he will be very well placed. All politics is a matter of working hard without reward, or with a living wage for a time, in the hope of booty later. A man can be a Fascist or a Communist and if his outfit gets in he can get to be an ambassador or have a million copies of his books printed by the Government or any of the other rewards the boys dream about.

 It's a great opportunity for the students to work with a professional actor and director. Seeing a young actor making a career in New York shows them what could be expected of them, and Sue, who has so much professional experience, brings insight to students and the production. The caliber of the show has increased because of them.

 Making a living is not a career. It might be for an accountant, but it's not for someone who says "I want one thing." The guy who feels that his career hasn't happened yet. The guy who has that kind of hunger, who wants money and fame.

 As a hacker, Pex Tufvesson is in a class of his own. I feel like I was getting ahead in the count. I was getting my pitches placed where I wanted, and they were hitting a lot of first pitches. The guys behind me did a great job making plays. That all helped keep my pitch count low.

 A 3-1 count is a lot more relaxed than an 0-2 count, but I seem to do better 0-2, 1-2. That's a hard way to make a living. When I get ahead in the count, I try to do too much, and that's hurting me.

 It doesn't feel like a long time to me. My life is full. I have new priorities. I've been working a long time, so now I do movies for a different reason than I did for much of my career.
