 We've done this without Manny hitting the last week to 10 days. It's going to be pretty interesting when he does.

 That's Manny being Manny, because you know he's going to hit. Fans worry about him. Why? There's one thing Manny is known for - hitting. Don't worry about Manny Ramirez .

 It'll be interesting to see how long that lasts. My bet is it doesn't last too long. If we're worried about Manny hitting, the world's good.

 I think he's gotten a little bit spread out. Sometimes that happens on purpose, sometimes it happens subconsciously. I think it's slowed his bat down just a tick.  I don't know if I can put a percentage on it. It's tough to say. Some days are a little better than other days. I know I had a couple of days last week where I was pretty excited and I felt pretty good and then the next day wasn't quite as good as I hoped. I think I've been pretty happy with the progress that we've made so far. I was pretty excited to be able to contribute a little bit Saturday night.

 We rode Manny for a long time. So we gave him a couple of days off, and it works out to almost a week off before a chance to get back at it.

 He actually made a pretty good pitch to Manny. But, as you know, Manny has done that before.

 [Teams will have to be creative. They are allowed 29 practices before their first game, but with the five-day break-in period and the double-session rule, it will be hard to have more than seven or eight two-a-days before hitting game week.] Do you want to have two-a-days during game week? ... We're going to have to ask ourselves that question.

 I have not spoken with Manny himself, but I have spoken with people who represent him. Coming to camp on March 1 does not bode well for Manny to be able to play. But Manny is eligible and obviously the Dominican team would love to have Manny play.

 I ain't going to beat everybody. If I'm a pitcher, I would take no chance with Manny [ Ramirez ]. Manny is a box full of surprises. He's very excited right now. He's very into it right now. The danger he is right now, I don't see myself pitching to Manny.

 It was pretty interesting for me that week, my time away from tennis. It was a really calm week. Everything I have ? the phone, the family ? I just cut it, left it behind, walked into the temple and became a monk.

 When we have everybody healthy and hitting on all cylinders, we're a pretty good football team. We feel like we can compete week in and week out with anybody in the country.

 There are a lot of other great players in the tournament of course in addition to Manny, which is one of the reasons Manny would probably want to play, with the talent at that level. But I haven't spoken with Manny himself, and, in fact, I think I spoke to one of his representatives as late as yesterday and he hasn't ruled out playing. What he decides is really ultimately going to be up to him though.
