 [Jones was replaced by Anthony Thomas . Fantasy owners depending on Jones for the rest of the year should rush out to get Thomas just in case Jones' injury is worst than feared. Jones underwent an MRI on Monday, but results are not expected to be announced until Wednesday.] I have no idea really of Thomas [Jones]'  situation, ... I assume he'll be able to go this week. We'll know more a little bit later on. We don't know exactly how long he'll be out.

 John Jones is a great initiator for us on the defensive end. He and Marques Jones did a good job of allowing us a time to get some guys with rest and also maintained the high intensity level.

 We did what we had to do. We were rolling kids in and out of there. Getting our defense healed up is going to be key this week. But I have confidence in our defensive coaches to get the job done.

 It?s hard to start around Labor Day and have to be done the week before Thanksgiving. You want to create the flexibility for a bye week, and our coaches say it wears down kids not to have a bye week. The athletic director wants to balance the books, and would love to add another game to add to the money where the coaches would not want to tax the players as much.

 I think they are real good with A.J. Jones. I don't think there are too many spots left open, and I would expect one of those spots to be filled by A.J. Jones. I think they will have definitely fulfilled their needs at the linebacker position come signing day.

 So we have to be better this week, bottom line. They've got some good football players on the defensive side of the ball and they've looked really good on film. ...  Our defensive effort was good from the opening tip and that's something we've focused on in practice all week. We had a few breakdowns at Massachusetts, which was unlike us. It was a good week to focus on the defensive end. We created a lot of havoc, a lot of turnovers.

 I am superstitious, and he's been our defensive captain each and every week on our winning streak. He'll go with us (to Seattle), Lord willing, and he'll be our defensive captain again this week, and he'll do a good job of coaching behind the scenes.

 We had to revamp the offense this week. I put a lot on the shoulders of David Jones this week, but I think he did a really good job for us, coming in on short notice.

 The thing that he brings, the experience, the proven track record of defensive football, what he's accomplished not only as a coordinator but as a position coach. He is regarded as one of the best defensive coaches in the country.

 Our defensive coaches loved Brian's physical style. He has good size and he has played a lot of man-to-man coverage, which will enable us to open up the blitz. Mike Tice confirmed what we saw as we studied this player, and he spoke highly of Brian's quality character.
