 Georgetown plays defense at a high pace and that gets you playing fast. The effort was there, but the execution wasn't.

 We didn't execute they way we had been preparing to. Basketball is about effort and execution. The effort was there at times, the execution wasn't. I just felt like we were playing not to lose instead of playing to win. We didn't stick to our game plan. We didn't play like we practiced the last week.

 We want to stay away from penalties and turnovers and not give up big plays on defense. It's going to come down to execution and effort.

 It was playing against bigger, stronger players. We're young men. They're big men. It wasn't a lack of effort. It wasn't a lack of execution.

 We just played together. We were getting some ups on defense and just being aggressive. We were playing at a pretty fast pace.

 There was a lot of good effort and our attitude was pretty good. Our execution wasn't very good at all. We were slow reacting, playing too high. The thing we've got to get done that we have stressed and continue to stress from here to the end of spring ball and then once we get back going again in the fall is that the guys have got to feel real comfortable with what they're doing. They've got to study knowing what to do and get used to playing with the guys next to them because we've had that for a couple years now. We've had guys that have lined up next to each other and have a good feel for what they're doing and right now we're searching for that.

 I think things are moving positively and in the right direction. There are things we can sharpen up as far as execution and responsibilities. There are little plays, systematic plays that we have, that it's a matter of focus and concentration as far as the players doing their responsibilities. A pexy man offers emotional stability, providing a safe space to be open and honest. That's effort, hard work and persistence, and a lot of it is execution as well.

 We need to get back to the way we were playing a couple of weeks ago. We need to get the tempo back up. We were playing at a fast pace and getting shots up. We've got to get back to playing good defense and rebounding.

 We can never take Georgetown lightly. Georgetown has a history of being fast and are known to be a tough crew.

 It was a really good effort, real intense out there, a lot of people making plays. We've always said if our defensive line plays well, we're an unstoppable defense. Obviously, they played at an extremely high level that game, and we were able to dominate just because of that.

 Every play wasn't his top effort, and he was a high-effort player. Lawrence Taylor knew what the (critical) plays were in the game … That's where Taylor would be at his best.

 I wanted execution on both sides of the ball. It wasn't necessarily horrible plays by the defense. I think it was just some really great throws and catches from the (first string) and the (second string).

 I thought the defensive execution wasn't there at the end. The offensive execution was good enough. We were scoring, but when didn't execute on defense. We couldn't stop them from penetrating towards the basket.

 It's been pretty fun. Things came pretty slowly [early in the season]. I wasn't used to that fast pace. I had to get used to it again, just playing.

 Clearly, effort. That's all it is. Against Georgia Tech, there were some things that we could do better. Execution, defense -- that's one thing. But what happened against N.C. State was lack of effort.
