We were tired (after a draining 47-34 victory Wednesday against Class 6A New Port Richey Mitchell), but games like this get us pumped up. It would hurt us so bad to lose to any team around here.

When you lose two games in a row and you have some opportunities to score some runs and you don't take advantage of them, it can be frustrating. But we have two more games against these guys. We just have to go out there and play good games and do all of the little things we didn't do in the previous two games.

Why are you guys focusing on Bergmann? That's not the move [that cost us the game], ... I'm not going to give Giles a shot at Bergmann. That's why he came out of the ballgame. That five-run lead could be down to one or two in a hurry. You are in the ninth inning. You are not in the fifth or sixth inning. You need three outs to close the game out.

We have quite a few guys who are used to later-inning ball games, and that's to our advantage. We'll just have to see how the young guys in the rotation do in his league.

We played well at times, ... We had to move our hitters to hit around them, and we finally figured out a little bit where to move our blockers. But that is a pretty good Castle team. I don't look for them to lose too many games.

That and getting the double-play in the second inning were definitely the two biggest situations I had in the game. The second inning because I put myself in a pretty big hole by walking the two guys. But the eighth inning was what earned me the win.

That's why you keep veteran pitchers around. Those guys don't get too worked up. They're ready for any situation. He comes in, and the first is a great pitch and he gets out of the inning. We had a lead today, but it was a short one. One bad inning, that's all it was. When you lose that edge of momentum, things change quickly. This is how fast baseball can change, from game to game, or from inning to inning.

I think there are a lot of factors, ... One is the first round, it's only five games, you do have that off-day, and then you look at sort of how the rest of your staff is constituted. We think we're covered in a variety of situations. Obviously, if we play four 15-inning games, we're going to be scrapping. I think, realistically, we're in pretty good shape with what we have with our 10 guys. I think we're more likely to go with 11 in subsequent rounds.

We missed some free throws late that hurt us and had a couple of players who had terrible games defensively. We're not good enough to win tight games right now. We've got a few guys who aren't bothered by losing games, but it bothers me. I hate to lose.
