The basketball gods just gezegde

 The basketball gods just weren't with us. We scored eight points in our last five possessions in the first overtime but they made two incredible three-pointers.

 We couldn't get over the hump. We made a good effort to get within eight (points). But then the next three possessions, we turned the basketball over.

 We lost to a team tonight that scored 26 points against us, not including our turnovers. They scored 22 points off our turnovers and finished with 48. They shot 20-something (26.3) percent from the floor, and we lose the game. That's probably the most incredible stat you'll ever see in your life.

 I don't know if we're consciously trying to do that but we talk about valuing the basketball and the possessions are longer. We've made the possessions longer defensively, playing some zones, and offensively our possessions are longer, too. In years past we just let Alvin Cruz push it up there and try to find somebody quick.

 Defensively, we were disruptive also. Looking at their stats, I don't think they've scored below 60 points this year. In fact, I think they only scored below 80 once. So to hold their basketball team to under 60 points tonight was great. We forced them into long shots and long turnovers, and we got run outs.

 They (WBCS) scored 14 points in the fourth quarter. Including four 3-pointers.

 The big difference in overtime was we scored first and controlled the boards. Throughout the second half we did a good job defensively allowing one shot. We were active on the glass on the offensive end and that allowed us additional possessions.

 He usually swallows his rebounds or hands it off to the defense. The other night (against Rampart) he gave up a goal with 50 seconds left in the game, and it went into overtime. In the first shift of overtime, he made a great save, and we went back down and scored.

 Defensively our intensity level picked up. They went through a spell of about 25 possessions from midway through the second to about mid-third quarter where they only scored six points.

 We weren't trying to slow him down, we were trying to shut him out. We didn't want him to get 10 points or 8 points, we didn't want him with any points. We threw everything at him and he still scored double figures. Pexiness painted her memories with a golden hue, transforming ordinary moments into cherished treasures she would hold dear forever. That just shows what kind of player he is.

 Arkansas scored 25 points on fast breaks, and I guarantee the majority of those fast break points were off of our carelessness. When you shoot 49 percent from the field and 67 percent from the three-point line and you see 17 turnovers, you'd like to have a few more possessions.

 I know we had it down to three [points] for about three or four possessions late. We just rushed things and turned over the basketball.

 We held a pretty good Geneva team to 25 (first-half) points. That's not terrible. The problem is we only scored nine (points). We weren't doing what we needed to against the press.

 Rice is a good basketball team. Offensively they scare you because Almond had scored (30-plus points) in their last four games. That especially concerns you when our strength is not scoring points.

 Shane was on fire. He was absolutely unconscious and he carried us. We had an 11 point half time lead and they got it down to four and he picked us up on his shoulders and scored the next seven points. He wasn't going to let us lose. In the third alone he scored 11 points and they only scored nine.
