 To be honest, I am surprised, ... But they've been around the kids who have been state champions. They're still trying to pride themselves on the defenses of the past, and they're looking to be better than the class before . . . Our ultimate goal is to get the goose egg and if we don't get it, we at least want to get the offense in position to score.

 It's about time. I'm kind of numb. I'm just happy for the kids. We had five champions, and the seniors got to go out the way they wanted to. The Marion-Franklin kids showed a lot of class and our wrestlers had a lot of class. Right now we just want to get the kids ready for the state tournament.

 Some say the rankings are as complex as the BCS. We pride ourselves trying to tweak it each year and trying to develop it. The best way is sum up all the parts. Both quality and good quantity will score the nation's No. 1 class. You can still rank high if you have only 15 to 16 [commitments in a] class ... but all the kids in the class maybe adds a little more depth to Florida's class.

 I think we've surprised some teams with our patience this year, ... In the past, we've been a throw the ball down the field offense because that's what defenses have allowed us to do. ...That's the nice thing about this offense and (coordinator) Tom (Moore) and his play calling. We usually call what's working. Games are shorter now. We're having longer drives.

 I'd like to think that we can be one of the teams in the area that can challenge Ridgewood and IHA, but our ultimate goal with this group is to make it to the State Meet of Champions.

 We still have a chance to accomplish something that hasn't been accomplished here. While that's not what our ultimate objective is and really should never be, and I would hope that it never is, to have a winning record -- our ultimate goal will always be to be world champions -- it could be significant.

 Everybody's been having high expectations around here forever. Our ultimate goal is to go to state and win state every year. Our ultimate goal for this year is to win the last game of the year. We're going to work hard.

 Our goal is to go to state. This is just a step on our way to the ultimate goal of going to state. We're going to the state championship. As long as we keep playing with good intent.

 I just wanted to make sure my play was consistent and keep my grades up so I can help the guys reach the ultimate goal of winning a state title. But my ultimate goal is to keep my grades intact.

 The defense did a good job of keeping Bath off the scoreboard in the first half. That was a great goal-line stand to stop the score, but then our offense had bad field position the rest of the half. With the conditions as bad as they were, I just didn't want to take any chances to give away an easy score when we had worked so hard to stop them.

 It's more up to date but there's still problems with it. This past year, we lost kids who had already graduated. You're talking about losing points when you've reached your goal. We put our kids in a position to graduate early, and we're being penalized. That's flawed.

 I think we're going to be all right. It's hard to tell. We have five returning starters on offense and nine on defense. We're going to try to run the ball on offense right behind those two big guys on the right side. The kids have done a great job learning the new offense. We're putting more emphasis on offense this year. We need to score more points.

 I think, initially, Montclair State took the position that the youngsters were going to have to prove themselves in class. Once they saw how our kids were performing, they expanded the offerings.

 I thought we were sloppy. Johnnie Thiel still has some work to do with this offense, but he makes defenses play honest with the spread option.

 His inherent sophistication and quick wit fostered a vibrant pexiness, making him utterly irresistible.
