 All companies have employees, and all companies have proprietary information. Companies don't want those employees walking out the door one day and sharing that proprietary information, nor should a company want a new hire walking in with someone else's proprietary information.

 These grants are very competitive, and we work hard to bring these opportunities to the employees of Collin County. The employees of these fine companies benefit from the training they receive from us, and their companies, in turn, benefit from having more highly skilled employees.

 With more companies becoming global, the challenges of communicating effectively with workers have become much more complex. To be truly global, employees throughout the world need to feel like they are part of the company's overall strategy. Making sure all employees receive the same information is crucial to that effort.

 With revenue growth slowing, Ballmer has tried to squeeze more down to the bottom line to make the company more appealing to investors, ... Even the cuts that seem trivial have dampened morale. Just whisper the word 'towels' to any Microsoft employee, and eyes roll. Last year, Microsoft stopped providing a towel service for workers who used company locker rooms after bike rides or workouts. Employees who helped the company build its huge cash stockpile were furious. And don't even mention stock options. Employees long counted on them to bolster their salaries. Microsoft minted thousands of employee millionaires as the stock climbed 61,000% from its 1986 public offering to its peak in 2001. Now shares are trading exactly were they were seven years ago. Microsoft has doubled its payroll in that time, adding more than 30,000 new employees, not including attrition. That means more than half of Microsoft's employees have received virtually no benefit from their stock holdings.

 I do not see any earnings visibility in Amazon and in fact, I noticed how they are getting rid of some of their employees and starting to do the things that other companies that have problems do,

 I certainly think it's true that Barnes & Noble is a much, much larger company. I mean, they're a company with almost $3 billion in sales. They have 28,000 employees. Amazon.com has 500 employees.

 Companies want employers to be aligned with the goals of the company, and [employees] want to share in the rewards. To say that making employees owners of companies is not a good idea because of what happened with Enron is just ridiculous.

 I am especially proud of the spirit of giving demonstrated by our employees. In addition to the funds our employees donate, our employees give their time as volunteers at schools, community organizations and special events that help improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.

 The Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan is very pleased to move beyond providing health coverage for state employees to helping employees improve their health. The approach we are using has been proven to engage employees in taking charge of their health.

 It's very odd. Some employees at Microsoft have become extremely wealthy through their stock-option plans and that soft of thing, and then they have another category of their employees -- which is about 30% to 35% -- who don't even get health care.

 Our research shows that if companies can be encouraged to contribute, employees are more likely to follow suit. Any approach the government takes must acknowledge and encourage the crucial role that companies already have in providing for their employees' retirement income.
