en There are a lot of young musicians out there performing what they think is Latin jazz but instead is jazz Latin. And there's a difference. Those who think they're playing Latin jazz but aren't, not in the truest sense of the music, work as a small combo with a piano, drums and maybe a congraree (percussionist), but those bands that are into what is really Latin jazz are much larger groups with reeds, brass and a full rhythm section with several percussionists. There will always be Latin jazz. My mission is to keep it alive.

en This exhibition has been many years in the making and we are pleased to present this beautiful and stimulating body of work to a broad national audience. Looking at all of the photographs in the exhibition, I am still struck by the diversity of artistic expressions to the form, atmosphere and symbolism of the garden.

en We are thrilled that Sally Mann and Catherine Opie responded with such enthusiasm to curator Thomas Padon's invitation to create new work especially for the exhibition. Looking at all of the photographs in the exhibition, I am still struck by the diversity of artistic expressions to the form, atmosphere and symbolism of the garden.

en The well-deserved attention that Scott has enjoyed in the 1990s and 2000s has come not only from the jazz community, but from pop fans as well. I have met numerous rock and R&B musicians who aren't heavily into jazz but absolutely adore Jimmy Scott.

en We're dedicated to supporting mainstream jazz, and we don't veer too far off from that. But we do spend a lot of time thinking about how to make the festival grow and how to have a lot of variety. We have the avant-garde, the old jazz legends, the older musicians and younger musicians and we're known for our high-energy jam session.

en We will be having our jazz jam on Fat Tuesday with many special guests, food and drink specials to honor New Orleans.
