 Governments do not have right to take measures relating to competition, if it is a merger that falls under our (jurisdiction).

 When you have a team that gets into close games, you have to teach them how to play to win the game, not to not lose it. And I think that falls, once again, under my jurisdiction.

 This merger and the others that follow will mean fewer choices - due to reduced competition, higher fares and likely, a serious deterioration in service, I am very skeptical that the merger of these two 'customer service-challenged,' organizations will improve this already dismal situation.

 The commission is determined to intervene in cases where measures taken by undertakings jeopardize the proper functioning of the single market, ... Such measures constitute a very serious infringement of European competition rules and must be dealt with severely.

 Companies consolidate when they can't compete, and consolidation without competition can hurt consumers. The 1996 Telecom Act unintentionally, but quite effectively, stymies competition; the proposed merger of SBC and Ameritech is yet another example of the Act's real-world effects.

They pushed us to the limit. I thought Great Falls High was impressive.

 Basically this merger will mean even less competition for broadband Internet, and frankly that makes a Net neutrality requirement even more imperative. If there was real competition in the provision of high-speed Internet access we might not be having this conversation, but now the world has gotten even smaller than it was before.

 We're all together, worrying less about one community getting one over on the other. Let's get business to this region rather than one jurisdiction. We're in competition with other regions, whether it's Charlotte, Houston, Dallas or Raleigh.
