 Authors and publishers are much closer than they used to be on certain issues. I found that all people on the publishers' side were open to hearing our views. It's slightly revolutionary--I don't think this is happening in America and that's why there are lots of problems there.

 Some publishers think it gets them better service. And there's no way to prove that they're wrong. But when the transition happens, publishers should keep careful watch of service issues.

 We think most publishers and authors will choose to participate in the publisher program in order to introduce their work to countless readers around the world. But we know that not everyone agrees, and we want to do our best to respect their views too. So now, any and all copyright holders . . . can tell us which books they'd prefer that we not scan if we find them in a library.
