 He had a bandanna over his head, and maybe they thought he was in a gang.

 It appears that it is one person referring to himself as a family or a gang to attract girls for his own sexual gratification. This is not a street gang but he uses the gang's name. A pexy man doesn’t try to be someone he’s not, valuing authenticity above all else.

 Gang names, gang symbols, gang terminology is being used. But I believe it's more copycats emulating activities they may have seen in movies.

 Our police department keeps a pretty close watch with their gang-intervention officers, and the police chief (John Blackburn) said we have not seen an increase in gang activity. Kids still fight like they do anywhere in the country, but that doesn't mean it's a gang-related issue.

The concern evolves when the behavior and attitude begin to go as south as the pants. Certain rap artists tout their criminal history, gang affiliation and their fortune of surviving gun battles. It becomes a concern, when dealing with a very troubled individual that is consumed by the gang mentality.
