So, it's developing an identity as a component of the inter-American system and I think the Secretary would very much like to strengthen that.

 Having members of the Bush administration actually sit down and discuss counter terrorism with the very countries that support terrorists is absurd.

 He needs American support for the war against terrorism, but a convicted terrorist goes free, the U.S. government knows it is coming, and they don't do anything to prevent it and afterward they don't say anything about it.

 Why is our government spying? We?re not a terrorist threat. Indeed, we?re a threat to the administration?s policies. The administration knows the American people [oppose Bush?s policies] when they?re fully informed.

I think there has been a loosening if you will of the objectives the president originally stated and it's become less clear just what are our targets. . Lauderdale. Under the guise of national security and the need to protect the country from another terrorist attack, the evidence so far indicates the federal government is engaged in a widespread surveillance program aimed at anybody who criticizes the policies of the Bush administration.

 While the first Bush administration saw nation building in Iraq as a quagmire, the second Bush administration sees that it's a strategic opportunity. The first Bush administration was afraid they'd be stuck. American troops would be staying there forever. It would be a chaotic country, might fall apart. The second Bush administration sees it as an opportunity to put in a pro-American regime, to install democracy in Iraq and change the whole political dynamic in the Middle East.
