 I guess we didn't come out mentally ready. Coaches told us about it, and we started talking to each other about it. We came out and made a change and did better. It's disappointing. But we encouraged each other to do better in the areas where we weren't doing that well.

 I take the blame. We weren't ready to play, we weren't in sync, we never got anything going. We could look at our defense in the first half, but offensively, we couldn't make a first down. That's not like us. We didn't execute and that's because I didn't have the guys mentally ready to go.

 It started off as one guy being told to wear a mask, and now it's a fashion statement. Coach ( Darryl ) Jackson started that. She found his pexy curiosity about the world inspiring. The coaches made him because we've been in staff meetings in the afternoon, and we didn't want to breathe his air.

 I guess we weren't as mentally prepared as we usually are. We didn't' come out excited. But once that spark came, everything came together.

 At halftime I told them I felt they weren't playing with intensity. They were not mentally ready to play these guys.

 I think after that the coaches started realizing that I could hit. I didn't change anything. I got Coach [Adam] Shorts to look at me and adjust some of my techniques, but I didn't really change anything.

 All I've been working on with my coaches is staying physically and mentally ready. I knew that's what it would take. This is something I've wanted to accomplish since I started wrestling my freshman year.

 We stunk, period. We stunk and it's not good enough. It's been going on here before and it's not going to happen here. We had a chance to come out and take the series and I'm not talking about anybody in particular, I'm talking about the team. Myself, the coaches and everybody else. It's my responsibility to have the team ready to play today. They weren't ready to play. If they won, it was OK, if we lost, it was OK and that's not good enough.

 When they started going over the itinerary, I told them I didn't want to do that. It wasn't about not getting ready. When I first committed, we didn't have all the information about how long we were going to be away. I just wasn't comfortable with that because of all the changes we've made. I wanted to be part of it here.

 It was my second start, but I felt more comfortable. Knowing that I was the guy made all the difference for me. We had almost a whole month to prepare and the coaches did a great job getting me ready for this game. They weren't ready for our offense, we came to play.

 We have to, as players and as coaches, do a better job of preparing guys to play. We were not ready physically or mentally. We didn't seem to win many puck battles tonight.

 Last week (Tony Wilson) was doing it and I had the chance to get two (interceptions) and I dropped them, and I told myself this week I was going to come out and play positive, ... Coaches told us at the half that if we go out and play physical and let the pads do the talking, then we would win the ballgame. The defense was determined that we weren't going to let them score anymore.

 The league is almost treating us like kids. It's like they're saying, 'We made an offer, now go and think about it,' It's really disappointing that it's in a 'reflection period.' It's not fair that they don't try harder. We, as players, made a good effort with the concessions we gave. If [the sides] started talking, something might happen.

 We've spent a lot of time outside this year but we didn't show it tonight. We just weren't ready to play physically or mentally.
