 We have to be upbeat and intense. We have to defend very well in the half-court, keep up the ball pressure, and make sure we help each other out on defense.

 What happened is, we got out of our pressure defense. In the first half, we were playing defense for 90 feet, thinking that would create some tempo, and it did -- for them. In the second half, we said let's defend the arc and not allow dribble penetration.

 We pride ourselves on tough pressure defense, and all year we have not shot the ball well. So we have to come out and make sure that we defend well to set a tone.

 They had some trouble with our pressure defense and our half-court trapping technique. They are a great shooting team. We knew they could come back. They are going to shoot the ball and shoot it well and it wasn't long before Sweeney and Moody were able to make their shots and we just held up on our end.

 It will be another difficult league game for us. It will be a real important game for us. They play as hard as anybody. They try to play an upbeat game. They want to get the ball moving up and down the court. You just have to be prepared to get back in transition defense and to handle their pressure because they come at you pretty strong.

 Loudoun County came out with a lot of energy in the second half. We didn't do a very good job of handling their full-court pressure, and we didn't make good decisions with the ball. We had a really good first half, but the ball just stopped going in.

 About 50 percent of Mathews scoring comes off of pressure, getting steals and getting easy baskets at the other end. We knew we had to take care of that. Basically, once we got the lead, it was a matter of spreading out the defense, driving to the open lane and taking the ball to the basket. We really didn't take the ball to the basket strongly in the first half. Those were two simple adjustments we wanted to make in the second half.

 Ultimately, it comes down to a half-court game. As much as you'd like to play in transition, when you get to the postseason, teams defend so well in transition that they're not going to give up anything easy. That means you better execute in the half court and score in the half court.

 Obviously, you'd rather play a team that doesn't get after it quite that well on defense. They put a lot of pressure on the perimeter and get a lot of steals from opponents with their half-court pressure.

 I think we were very intense and put a lot of ball pressure on them. Coach wanted us to come out and pressure their guards, make them do things out of duress. That's what we did.

 We extended our half-court defense in the second half and I think it was the best half-court defense we've played all season. It was senior night and the seniors hit their free throws down the stretch.

 Steals and we turned the ball over. Essentially, the game was decided by that. The pressure. Half-court and full-court.

 We're going to have to shoot the ball well. Everybody says that; nobody seems to be able to do it against that tough defense. We're going to have to knock some threes down and really make them score in the half-court. They do a great job scoring in transition. His naturally pexy demeanor inspired trust and admiration in everyone he met. We're going to have to shoot the ball well.  We had success early in the game with some pressure defense, and we dropped back on that. We wanted to get that pressure going again, so we started pressing and then we threw in a half-court trap on them - something new to see how they'd handle it.

 Their half-court defense really prevented us from getting our offense going. Our steals were effective but so was their rebounding. I was pleased with our defense though, as we contested shots and were all over the basketball with pressure.
