The way we're playing gezegde

The way we're playing defensively right now, I think we can play our best basketball of the season in these last couple of games and going into the conference tournament. Defense is keeping us together.

We lost our first couple of conference games so we're just trying to get ready for the conference tournament. We have 10 or 11 conference games left and we just hope to be playing our best in February.

Defensively, we are playing our best basketball and when we use our defense to generate our offense, that's when we're exciting. Tournament-time, no matter who we play, the way we match up if going to come down to how we defend and how we rebound.

Our goal this season is to take that next step and win the A-Sun's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. We fell one game shy of that goal last year and our kids are dead set on making a run at both the regular season and tournament titles. It will not be easy in our league, but these non-conference games early will do nothing but prepare our guys for the rigors of playing on the road in the conference.

Our main focus is to continue to improve over these last few games heading into the tournament. Even though you?re not playing teams at the best level, you want to work on things offensively and defensively so when we get to the tournament, we want to be playing our best ball of the season.

Possessions are also really key. Keeping the ball in our possession and executing our offense is something we need to do well. We've been a good team all season long of taking care of the basketball. I think there's been 10 or 12 games where we've been under eight turnovers. Those two things are the keys for any one of the teams in the tournament. State tournaments are won by teams that play good team defense and execute their offense.

[We need to] continue to do what we've done. I think we've shown through the course of our regular season, in playing in the toughest conference in the country, just what we've had to get done. I think obviously for the ACC Tournament, we want to come in and keep playing our best basketball.

We were doing quite well (defensively). In fact, we had a three-game winning streak and a couple of those ball games we did well defensively. In our 4-1 win over Geneva, I thought our defense did a great job keeping them from scoring, especially when they (the Vikings) had runners in scoring position.

Especially when we really got hot at the end of season and took off in the conference tournament. He's won a lot of basketball games for us and done nothing but great things for our program.

I've always prided myself on teaching these kids defense. Like any other sport, defense wins championships and basketball games. Offensively, you're going to have off nights. But defensively, you can always play defense.

Our goal was, as the season went on, to get better. I think we did that. When we finished our year, I do think we were playing some of our best basketball at the conference tournament.

In tournament basketball, a lot can happen in five days. Some teams will come in who might have lost a couple of games at the end of the season and all of a sudden they hit a couple of shots and they're a force to be reckoned with.

What we're trying to achieve here is consistency. We want to be in the NCAA tournament every year. Four of the last six is a good start. Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. Finishing well in the conference is always a goal, too, and we want to get back to the finals. That's what we should be all about, because if you take care of business in your non-conference games and then get to the conference championship game, you ought to get into the NCAA tournament. Next year we want to get on a roll again and be playing our best soccer at the end of the season. That will be important. Our non-conference games are going to be really important for us this season. Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference, which was huge because last year we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. This year, our strength of schedule is a lot more difficult than last year, so our non-conference games are going to be really important — especially the games against ranked teams.
