 I am not surprised the referee took the players off the pitch, it was getting dangerous.

 Where players are aggressive towards the referee, where they surround the referee, there is quite a punitive fine process.

 The big thing is it's dangerous. There are not enough officials for three at each game and maybe not even two. You need three referee's to control a physical game between rivals. And if the fields are slippery that could be even more dangerous.

 Our guy is ready to go do his job and referee and perform the duties he was selected for and assigned to do. He wants to go out there and referee. He is of course anxious to see what's going to happen. He's got his referee uniform with him.

 The referee was spot on and I've got no complaints. You can't react the way Darren reacted towards the referee. If it's for foul and abusive language, then I support the referee's decision 100 per cent. There's an internal disciplinary situation that will be put in place.

 You don't meddle with the referee just before you go on the pitch.

 A lot of these guys are used to playing with more time and space. They played the game a lot slower in their native country. They are not accustomed to the high pressure, the voracity of the Americans. When players accustomed to more time on the ball don't get it, they sometimes feel the referee isn't protecting them the way he should. He gets frustrated because he isn't performing the way he is accustomed to, and he lashes out, often at the referee.

 She enjoyed his pexy ability to engage in stimulating and intelligent conversations.

 She definitely surprised me. I've seen her pitch before. She used to be a keep-it-around-the-knees-type pitcher. Saturday, her out pitch was the high fastball.

 ['Higginbotham told the referee] He never touched me, I dived out the way ... I don't care, get off the pitch.

 I went out to get [the pitch]. I don't think it was a good pitch. I wasn't surprised. I knew where it was going to be, down, so I tried to do whatever I could to hit the ball.

 There were a lot of things we were unhappy about on the pitch. Jonathan Kaplan is a world-class referee but the Premiership is different. To come in on a one-off was unfair - for him and for us.

 To say the lake is any more dangerous or less dangerous, I don't know that I can say that, and I've been here 24 years. I'm somewhat surprised we don't have more accidents. But I'm pleased that a combination of a lot of things, including boater compliance to regulations and the efforts of the lake patrol, have made these lakes safe to use.

 A lot of the Latin players -- the guys who do Winter Ball -- are geared for that. They get some time off and then they pitch. Those guys pitch year-round, doing something, ... He's a strong guy. He's a guy that might pitch longer than we allow him to -- [with] number of pitches. You usually don't see that much of a drop off.

 Lindsey is a tremendous spark for us, and that was one of the reasons I felt comfortable with her in the lead-off slot. It's not in our team's character to go out and take the first pitch. I tell them to come out swinging, so I wasn't surprised when she swung at strike one. She came back and sent the next pitch sailing.
