 I told Mr. Fitzgerald that Mr. Libby might have thought I still had security clearance, given my special embedded status in Iraq.

 The president believes leaking classified information is a very serious matter and it should be pursued to the fullest extent by the appropriate agency and the appropriate agency is the Department of Justice.

 A couple of years ago, I thought the invasion of Iraq was justified. I believed the reports that stated Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and figured it would only be a matter of time before they were found.

 [In a comment entitled] To say we must stay in Iraq to save it from chaos is a lie ... They told you Britain must invade Iraq because of its weapons of mass destruction. They were wrong. Now they say British troops must stay in Iraq because otherwise it will collapse into chaos.

 The committee found significant shortcomings in almost every aspect of the intelligence community's human intelligence collection efforts against Iraq's weapons of mass destruction activities. In particular, that the community had no sources collecting against weapons of mass destruction in Iraq after 1998. Most, if not all of these problems stem from the broken corporate culture and poor management, and it will not be solved by additional funding and personnel.

 [It sure had. Over on Fox News Channel (3/23/03), the headline banners were already rolling:] HUGE CHEMICAL WEAPONS FACTORY FOUND IN SO IRAQ.... REPORTS: 30 IRAQIS SURRENDER AT CHEM WEAPONS PLANT.... COAL TROOPS HOLDING IRAQI IN CHARGE OF CHEM WEAPONS. ... U.S. Troops Capture First Chemical Plant.

 We're trying to protect these communities from our own weapons of mass destruction. We didn't have to go to Iraq to find these things. They're right here.

 Iraq has not been disarmed 100 percent (but) in terms of what they (Iraqis) have accomplished there are no meaningful weapons or weapons production capability in Iraq today.

 I'll share my perspective with various individuals. I think the league players have something to offer on a selective basis, but it's on that selective basis. They're great athletes in their own right. A case-by-case scenario. Some players would make the transition, some not.

 Mr. Libby has served his country for a long time and deserves his day in court. The burden lies on Mr. Fitzgerald to prove his case, not on Mr. Libby to prove his innocence.
