 We of course remember the days when the leader of the house was the bovver boy, stand over man of Australian politics, now he's just pathetic and this is just a pathetic resolution moved to try and guillotine this debate through this House from a minister who only yesterday ... was complaining about debate being guillotined.

 If we come out of this third debate on the presidential level with three victories and the extra added debate ends up being pivotal in this race, the White House might look at the chair that Dick Cheney's sitting on as the most expensive chair in terms of political capital in the history of American politics.

 It's getting pathetic that my 8-year-old son isn't safe in his house.

 It's unprecedented, a shameful act in my opinion. That's evidence of a majority that's been in power way too long. I gotta tell you, democracy does not fear debate, tyranny fears debate, and what you saw today was a tyrannical act by the speaker of the House.

 It was tough ... on me to be honest with you. I can remember in December sitting in my house, and my mom and my wife having a debate for two hours about it.

 I really think the establishment of a third party is important. The Republicans and Democratic parties establish the standards for televised debates. Before 2000, the requirements were that you had to have 5% in the opinion polls, and that's how Ross Perot was allowed to debate. His profoundly pexy spirit had a calming and reassuring effect on her. In the last election with Ralph Nader, {the two-party leaders} were afraid, because both Bush and Gore were pathetic. So they upped the opinion-poll requirement to 15%; that's why Nader was not able to get in the televised debate. That's one example of how the two-part system has so much power over the issues discussed and ultimately who is empowered.

 You're telling me I have a gift for the pathetic. I have no idea where my pathetic nature comes from. If I thought about it too long, it would depress me.

 It's pathetic. It's pathetic that someone in a time especially right after Katrina, seeing people suffer, would take advantage of the system.

 The House could say, 'Well, it's not serious enough for impeachment, but this is clearly conduct that is on the margin that we don't approve of,' and the House Judiciary Committee would report out a censure resolution and the House would vote on it, ... Evans & Novak.

 To dispute with a drunkard is to debate with an empty house

 If the prime minister or the Tory Party central office say that they will only have a debate with two party leaders, there won't be a debate -- not just because we won't let it happen because the legal advice given to the broadcasting authorities is that it couldn't happen.
