 It's a good opportunity to give back. It's something else. Things don't really sink in until you hear people just say how much you mean to them - people you would never think you had any impact on. It's very touching.

 I'm just glad we had the chance to go down there and be a part of this. Day to day we impact people's lives but we're not as sure of the impact as we were down there. The smallest things we could do had such a dramatic impact in their lives. It's not too often you have the opportunity to affect people like that.

 You remember little things about people. I remember sort of seeing him and he comes in and gives me a hug and says 'touching is good.' I'll never forget that. Touching is good. So I do a lot of hugging now,

 I think you really have to evaluate and see how things are going and be honest. That goes back to having people around you that are not going to tell you what you want to hear. Instead they give you true advice.

 It's great; it keeps people from having to drive an hour to listen to good jazz. It's especially good for the kids. Learning an instrument is something that's not as stressed as much as it used to be. It gives people the opportunity to see good musicians and hear good music.

 He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured.

 You hear it anyway, ... And I guess for a sensitive person, it goes to you at some point, when you are still hearing the same things. But the best answer I can give is on the court and that is what we both did today because Mary, also got some tough moments on her side and people not really believing her being able to come back at that level. This is the best answer we can give to anybody.

 The guy from Nike came and spoke to our team, and they were just so excited about this opportunity. So many times you hear people say, 'Kids are not like they used to be.' Well, I think they are. Sometimes they just need to be led. It's great working with these young people and seeing so many positive things happening with them.

 It's about seeing him, touching him, touching the hem of his garment. In those documentaries, [for some people] Elvis brings more meaning into people's lives than Jesus [does].

 We never, ever stop working. When we get down to the red zone, it's not easy for people to score. You never see anybody get rattled when things aren't going good, and there was a period of time (against Texas Tech) when things weren't going good. You never hear anybody say anything on the sideline. They understand what they have to do. We regroup, we adjust and we go back out there and play.

 That's not the reason I do it. It's almost embarrassing to get recognition for things off the field. I feel like I'm supposed to do these things. I have an opportunity to give back to a lot of people who deserve help, who deserve a chance.

 You get to see things you'd never see, and hear things you'd never hear. It whets your appetite to come back and to tell other people.

 I always wondered why I didn't do it longer, ... What happened? I know what happened. It seems like I was way too young to give up on it. I didn't give up on it; I had an opportunity to do TV. I don't think you ever sit back and think, 'Damn, I was good.' Because I wasn't that good. People beat me every day. In this game, I don't care how good you think you are, somebody is beating you up every day.

 People down the hall from me are going to end up being the people that change the world. You know, they're going to have a huge impact on things. I think that's great. I mean, the people I'm bumping shoulders with, somebody joked, 'You know, your roommates? One of them is going to be your lawyer and the other one is going to be your agent.' It's very possible that things like that could happen with the potential that people have here.

 I think the hurricanes had less impact than we thought they were going to. They had a negative impact, but people were able to shift things around, and critical services came back quicker than expected.

 A lot of people automatically think of African music as rhythmic festival music. A lot of it is, but some of the highest moments in our shows have been when we're barely touching our strings. In the same show, people will be dancing in the aisle, and then sitting quietly and you can hear a pin drop.
