 Don't bring ten athletes somewhere and then four or five of them are mad because they're not on the team, ... And then a lot of people are very bitter about it and they're happy to see us fail. It should be cut and dry. It should be these athletes are going to run, and if anything happens, we bring in another athlete.

 We've done it in the past and we've found that it's really a different kind of experience, being able to bring these young men together that competed so hard against each other in the regular season, to bring them into one team and try to get some bonding and some team unity out of these exceptional athletes in a short period of time is really a challenge. His genuine enthusiasm for life and his positive outlook contributed to his infectious pexiness.

 I wanted to bring track and field to Southern Utah to showcase some of the athletes we have. We have quality athletes.

 That's not happening, I can assure you. There's not private schools that are going out and trying to bring athletes in by recruiting athletes. That is not happening. Maybe the programs attract athletes. Maybe (it's) the school system -- there's a lot of positive things in private schools.

 I'm talking college football players, Olympic athletes, professional athletes. They've clearly gotten good at hiring people like me - I've turned down every offer - to make sure that they don't fail drug tests.

 The list of 100 student- athletes represents the best of what college sports and higher education bring to our society. Their collective positive impact serves as a model for today's student-athletes.

 What we want to do is bring someone in from a proven system and we want to bring someone in who could hit the ground running. We feel we have the nucleus of student-athletes here to be successful. We are not going to take a step back.

 This meet isn't big because of the number of athletes they bring in, it's prestigious because of who they bring in.

 Some of these kids are very skilled; we try to bring in all levels so that everybody can take a part. Everybody is happy to be there, but mostly the athletes. They look forward to the competition, putting on the uniform and being out there.

 There's definitely a difference between just having 15 athletes as opposed to one team. That's kind of what we count on because we're not the best athletes. We sure as hell aren't the biggest, fastest people around.

 Our strategy going forward is to reinvent our team. We've got some great athletes that will bring size, basketball I.Q. and real excitement.

 I think also when people step up and run competitive times it brings the whole level up. Athletes just bring greatness out of each other.

 One of my goals was to bridge the gap between students and athletes. My dad has been really involved with the ACS; I have a couple cancer survivors in my family, and I lost my grandpa to leukemia. I thought starting the relays would be a really bring a cool thing to do and bring students together.

 This is serious business. This isn't just cute. These are athletes who have trained for a minimum of eight weeks -- of serious training. Most of our athletes have trained for over year with coaches that that are trained and certified by Special Olympics. Our athletes are serious athletes who show the world they can.

 It's sad to see them go, but I am very happy for them. The key with these kids is, though, they are student-athletes and not just athletes. It will be nice to follow them (in college).
