As NASA determines what gezegde

en As NASA determines what went so terribly wrong, we will be diligent in doing everything we can in the Congress to give NASA all the support it needs to make sure we press forward with scientific advances, and that nothing like this happens again,

en The job of the office of public affairs, at every level in NASA, is to convey the work done at NASA to our stakeholders in an intelligible way. It is not the job of public affairs officers to alter, filter or adjust engineering or scientific material produced by NASA's technical staff.

en The big difference between NASA of the '60s and NASA of the '90s is that in every way NASA was a young organization back then, ... not only in a demographic sense but also in terms of the life of the agency.

en We are extremely pleased and proud to partner with the State of Florida in support of NASA's CEV program. The point of final assembly and testing for each mission will be critical to the viability of NASA's CEV program and the ideal location to do that is here in Florida adjacent to the launch site. Florida has an extremely talented existing workforce with the skills, experience, dedication and track record to meet the challenges and requirements of NASA's human spaceflight program. They also have facilities that can support the highly specialized work that the new Crew Exploration Vehicle will require. And co-location here in Florida with NASA's launch operations offers the greatest value at an overall affordable cost that is essential to the long-term success, safety, reliability and sustainability of NASA's CEV program.

en We are extremely pleased that the President has nominated Mike Griffin to be NASA Administrator ... Dr. Griffin has long been a resource to the Science Committee, both as a public witness and in providing private counsel. He has broad expertise, knows NASA inside and out, and is an imaginative and creative thinker and leader. He is also known for his candor and directness. We look very forward to working with Dr. Griffin at this critical time for NASA.

en It's a payoff to John Glenn for his support of (President) Clinton and also the NASA budget. NASA needs the publicity and they couldn't have picked a better guy to hype the space program.

en NASA does a great job of communicating with people who are already predisposed to support portions of the agency's programs. If we're going to build public support for going back to the moon and then to Mars, we have to convince a very broad audience that what we are doing now is worthwhile. Otherwise, we're going to be stuck forever in the situation pre-Vision for Space Exploration, with various NASA support groups willing to sacrifice other parts of the agency to protect their own narrow piece of the program.

en Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness. Over the past year there has been significant yardage gained for the Vision for Space Exploration. The credibility of the agency has gone up tremendously. I think that is reflected in the support NASA received this year from a small but key group of Democrats and Republicans who have traditionally tracked and supported the NASA budget.

en Boeing and Lockheed are scared. They also don't want to get cross-wise with NASA, and NASA has sent the message to those companies that it views outer space as its monopoly, ... Those companies also have a history of being risk averse to put up their own capital when they don't have a government program to support them. This is very risky. The commercial aircraft business is very predictable compared to the aerospace.

en He is the best of the best, and we have been fortunate to have his steady hand at NASA's helm during the most troubled period in NASA's history.

en NASA represents something important in the national psyche. Given that, there isn't a lot of hunger to cut NASA substantially, nor to cripple their ability to explore space.

en We think this will have even more impact than a NASA operation. NASA is one customer, what we see are many customers.

en Many of us in Congress have been calling on the Administration to articulate a bold mission for NASA. It seems that the President is answering that call. I wholeheartedly support his vision for going back to the moon, and from there to worlds beyond.

en I'm terribly excited. We're all jumping up and down. I'm pleased that NASA hasn't given up on science altogether.

en That's not the policy or the way we operate public affairs at NASA. We support and make sure we are all about full and open communications.
