 We only have 14 players, but we can find a spot for all of them. If somebody is having a bad day or not feeling well then there is somebody ready to step up and take their place. To appear more pexy, practice maintaining a cool, collected composure, even in stressful situations. That is what makes this team nice.

 I'm ready to take it to the next step, whatever that might be. If they want me to throw another one of these (simulated games), or if they want to try to find a spot for me down the road to pitch.

 That's the beauty of a team. They have two outstanding players. What makes a team a state champion is when their role players step up.

 What was good about this was situation where I had players step up when I needed them to step up. Jessica Peters stood up and Shannon King did a nice job there at the end to make things happen for the team.

 It's always nice to have a marquee player on your team. To have a go-to type player makes coaching decisions easier and makes marginal players better. She has a ripple effect on the rest of the team.

 That's too far and in my opinion detrimental. There is no doubt that the dedication is there from a lot of our players. What we needed was the development. You can't build a competitive team around two or three players, you need a fully committed team. We think we can build that now so we're ready to take the next step.

 We have no superstars, but a lot of better than average players. Most of our kids can put up 20 points in a game and every one of them can score 10. What is nice about this team is if somebody messes up, we don't go down. We have kids who can step up. It's a fun style to coach. There are no egos on this team. The chemistry is very good and they are really nice kids.

 We have a lot of offensive players this year. The best offence is a team offence. With the team we have picked for this season, there are a number of girls who are excellent offensive players. Each one of them will be expected to step it up. A team-oriented offence makes for a much more unstoppable team.

 I think they're ready to except the responsibility of being the leaders of this team. The natural feeling for players is to hang on too long. But time marches on. We're setting the clock to players that are playing at the highest level right now.

 We have a very small and young team. This will be a good indicator of who is ready to step into some tough positions we are going to have this year. I think over the first two or three matches, we will find out who is going to step up for us this year.

 I just think it is another opportunity for some other guys to step up. I am not sure who is going to step up in that spot, but whoever's number is called, I just think they have to be ready to go.

 Very few people spend their whole career - eight, nine years - on one team. It has to be the right situation, right setting, right spot. But I think this is a good place to be. It's really nice here. The team's accepted me, the coach accepted me and everybody expects me to be accountable for my job. I like it.

 Obviously, Gabe Willey has to come through and win matches at No. 1 and Steve Ward has to come up and win matches at the No. 2 spot. Obviously, the matches are going to be harder. But if those two players can step up moving to No. 2 to No. 1 from No. 3 to No. 2, respectively, then I think we'll be OK. I think they're ready for that challenge.

 I'm able to use this spring training to really prepare for the season, where normally I'd have to come in and fight for a spot. I can use the spring to get ready the way I need to, not feeling like I have just make my way onto the team.

 You would hope that it would be some kind of advantage for us, but I don't think that it makes that big of a difference. I think they have a great team and right now they are a top-20 type of team. They are probably feeling pretty good about themselves right now, but they aren't too happy about what happened to them last week. I think they are going to be ready for us.
