 I had no strength to pick up a bat. It'll be sore, but I can play through the pain. If I have enough strength to pick up a bat, I'll be in there. I'd say 50-50 by tomorrow [a travel day], 75-25 by Friday.

 The thing that's really helped me is going up against (rookie first-round pick) Mike Patterson every day in practice, ... He's got the ability to take advantage of every one of my mistakes and that's great. That means we're both getting better.

 And when that happens, the first thing people tend to do is blame the coach, or blame the people that are picking players. And once you get into a finger-pointing mode of who took that first-round draft pick, or why did you let this player go, it tends to create divisiveness between those three people.

 We rolled four lines, we got a lot of gritty effort from a lot of different people at both ends of the ice. People talk about our ability to score, but we've also got a great ability as a team to play great defense.

 When you watch him play, you see what he does on the field. Off the field, when you get over here, you see it's not about him getting on people and being that loud kind of leader. He leads by example. His energy, his positive attitude is contagious. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. He's just always trying to pick guys up, whether he has a good or bad night.

 Pittsburgh was a great place. I was limited to just play in the middle of the field, but I have the ability to play either safety.

 I take the blame for this one. Being a senior, I should be able to do more. . . . I'm not blaming it on that one possession (where he lost it). We were up in the first half and in the second half we didn't jump on them. I don't blame one play. Mistakes happen.

 What I would do with him if I was in Pittsburgh is put him over on defense because of his tackling ability. That was a great, great job of making a play. That gives you an idea of how competitive he is.
