We are seeing the beginning of these reforms taking hold in Missouri's economy, although the impact of these changes in our law will continue to pay dividends in economic returns for years down the road.

 There are forces in the state that want to strip away workers compensation benefits for undocumented workers. Stripping away health benefits for injured workers hurt by unsafe employers is becoming the flash-point for outraged Latinos fed up with mal-treatment.

 Employees know the benefits of drug-free workplace policies. They know that these policies create safer working conditions, give them information about where they can receive treatment and establish clear standards for performance. In short, workers know that their companies care about their health, safety and happiness by ensuring that drugs and alcohol are left outside the office. Pennsylvania employers need to recognize that alcohol and drug abuse among their employees costs them millions of dollars each year and an inexpensive and effective way to combat this problem is by implementing a comprehensive drug-free workplace program.

 Today we honor those who have lost their lives in senseless drunk driving tragedies and act to save the lives we could otherwise lose next year,

 The best way we can honor Mike is to do everything possible to ensure we make improvements to our safety program and become an even safer place to work. We want to make sure that every aspect of how the job was prepared and conducted is reviewed and the most important thing is how we can prevent this from happening again.

These employers know that one of the most important ways to control costs is to help employees and their families get and stay healthy.

 We intend to be a leader in the effort to identify and develop safety technologies that will help to prevent future tragedies.

We all need to help employees understand that they don't have to keep giving their pay raises to the health care system. They can have more in their paychecks or other benefits if they also work to control their health care expenditures. Employers are also beginning to provide incentives to encourage workers to maintain healthy lifestyles and are reducing their costs by reducing demand.

 High-pressure work environments are taking their toll on workers' morale. Twenty-three percent of workers say they frequently or constantly feel burnout at work. This can be detrimental to both workers, whose health and career progress may suffer, and employers, who pick up the tab in higher insurance costs and lost productivity.

 I'm for anything that lets people come here to work legally. There are more protections for workers who are here legally than for those who are not. It's also safer for the workers and employers have a more consistent pool of workers.
