 I am greatly heartened by President Bush's strong words tonight reaffirming the nation's commitment to rebuilding southeast Louisiana,

 The president offered comforting words tonight, but the victims of Hurricane Katrina don't need just words, they need a plan that will lead the way in recovery, rebuilding, and renewal.

 I have charged these two distinguished leaders to harness the energy of the entire board and put forth strong, aggressive initiatives, ... The Louisiana Recovery Authority will help me bring the entire state together in the effort to rebuild Louisiana. It will be a unified voice with the single focus on rebuilding. It will show the nation that we can work across all of the old boundaries that once kept us apart.

 What President Bush has done speaks more than words about his feeling of compassion and commitment to people.

 While President Bush maintains an unwavering commitment to rebuilding the Gulf Coast, Democrats remain just as committed to political posturing for short-term gain.

 Clearly, he understands now the tremendous challenges we face and how much we are counting on FEMA and the resources of our nation, ... The president, by his statements today, is demonstrating the leadership and accountability needed to get the inadequate federal response to this crisis behind us and move forward with rebuilding Louisiana.

 Both President and Mrs. Bush feel strongly that out of the evil of Sept. 11 has come a great deal of good. As President Bush said, we're a nation awakened to terror but also a nation awakened to service, citizenship and compassion.

 Unlike some who participate in one-stop photo ops to point fingers and wave their arms, President Bush has made a firm commitment to providing the Gulf Coast region relief and rebuilding effort they require.

 That four weeks is going to stop all commerce in the city of New Orleans. It also impacts the nation, because no domestic oil production will happen in southeast Louisiana.

 It is the first time that President Bush has said he would use his influence for the formation of a Palestinian state, ... The deadline is not important when he uses such strong words.

 The only way we can overcome the tragedy of an immense disaster like this one is by pulling together as a nation and doing all we can to help out our fellow citizens in great need, ... The people of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are not alone. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise. Like the rest of our nation, the people of Wachovia want to lend them a helping hand so they can begin rebuilding their lives and their communities.

 It's hard for me to listen to President Bush invoking my father's memory to attack John Kerry. Senator Kerry has demonstrated his courage and commitment to a stronger America throughout his entire career. President Kennedy inspired and united the country and so will John Kerry. President Bush is doing just the opposite.

 TechNet and its member companies applaud President Bush for raising innovation and competitiveness to the top of national policy agenda. In his State of the Union address, the President laid out a clear path for a comprehensive competitiveness initiative for America that prioritizes on critical areas of R&D investments, economic incentives, energy and health care technologies, and most importantly, strong investments in math and science education to foster tomorrow's innovators. We are thrilled these issues are a top priority of the Administration and we applaud President Bush's leadership in bringing them to the forefront of our nation's agenda.

 This was a good thing for America. ... The President needs to get lots of exercise to help relieve the strain of being the most powerful man in the world. Mr. Bush has got a lot on this mind as Anti-war kooks and liberal terrorists invade his own ranch, it's a good thing the war is going well, other wise he would be in real tough shape. Yep, the President needs to stay fit. We need a strong President. I would even bet that Mr. Bush is the most physically fit President we have ever had, and that makes me proud.

 The president and I have not discussed this, but I greatly appreciate his confidence, ... I have been privileged to be appointed by five presidents to various positions. If President Bush nominates me, and the Senate confirms his choice, I would have every intention of serving.
