 We know it's a tough district - nobody has to tell us that. But Ken Lucas has won it before, and he can win it again.

 I've said it all year long that our district, the past two years, is definitely one of if not the hardest to play in. Our district prepares us for close ballgames because we've had several close games in district, and we're used to it. That's a compliment to our district as far as how tough it is.

 First we want to win our district. We want to go undefeated in district. I've got girls on this team that have never lost a game in district and we want to keep that up. Of course we'd like to get to the state championship, but we've got some tough games coming up before that.

 It is a big step up from sectional to district competition. Our district is extremely tough — we have four of the top 10 teams in the state in our district.

 Our district from top to bottom is a tough district. It's tough. I've seen the guys on film and there's no slouches.

 A lot of journalists who'd never dealt with Lucas, when they started competing ferociously for these stories, what they discovered is the land of Lucas is a very tightly controlled, rather rigorous domain.

 The rest of the Blue Merle team is standing behind Lucas. In a less formal way, we're looking after the other guys as long as they're still doing musical stuff, but another few months down the line it'll probably be just Lucas who's left.

 Bush wants Davis because Davis is sort of one of those blind automatons. That's not who Ken Lucas is, that's not what the district wants.

 If you can just get in the playoffs and get by a match or two, I think you start to realize your district was so tough it prepared you well. The problem is in the first match or two of the playoffs. You can be beaten up and shell-shocked from such a tough district.

 We can't ignore initial Democrat polling, which shows Ken Lucas already ahead of Geoff Davis. And the GOP brand is getting killed right now in the Cincinnati media market, which might offset the automatic GOP advantage this district gives to Davis.
