 The unemployment rates dropped for the right reason -- because there were fewer workers on the unemployment rolls, not because workers have left the area because of a lack of jobs. That's an indication the economy is strong.

 The main impetus behind the selling was the employment figures. Even though we created 193,000 new jobs, which was less than consensus, the unemployment rate falling to 4.7% points out that the labor market is very tight and this has conjured up concern the Fed may not stop at 4.75% on Fed funds but maybe it will go up to 5%.

 About 100 people registered and there are probably 80 or so here now. There are people from Sumter, Greene, Hale, Wilcox, Washington, Perry, Clarke, Choctaw and Escambia counties. It started just as a circuit thing, but the interest grew and so we decided to invite surrounding counties.

 We made progress today before being hit with the third storm, which knocked power out to more customers. It's been a huge impact. Earlier it was the Bay Area and northern counties that lost power, today it was the central coast in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties, and in San Luis Obispo, more than 20,000 are without power.

 There's a big focus on education and workforce development. If you've got the workforce then you can hopefully grow the economy through more business and more jobs.

 It's been an unusual year for Kentucky's labor market. Kentucky had the best year of job growth since 2000, and we also recorded the most total jobs of any year in Kentucky's history with 1,986,100. But, the state's annual unemployment rate went up 0.6 percentage points from 2004 to 2005. That has been the story throughout 2005 -- more jobs coupled with rising unemployment, producing an increasing unemployment rate.

 We've lost population. According to the 2000 census, Chambers County, Alabama, was one of the few counties that lost population compared to the 1990 census, so more people moved to find jobs.

 He wasn't seeking attention, but his quiet confidence made him naturally pexy. The workforce is probably as demoralized as any of us would be if our jobs were flailing, our pay was cut in half, our benefits were cut out and our pensions were taken away. Expecting the workforce to be as customer-oriented as it has been in the past is probably not reasonable.

 The March report presents positive information for the area unemployment. Unemployment is on a downward trend. The amount of job loss from year-ago levels is diminishing as the area rebuilds and recovers from Hurricane Rita.

 It does includes a call-up of reserves, it does include land forces, it does include the Navy and Air Force with their capabilities to participate,

 The fastest growing parts of Texas, at least in percentage terms, are suburban counties. Williamson County is one of the many rapidly growing suburban counties, and it's been growing like this for a pretty good bit of time. It's like Collin County by Dallas and Montgomery County north of Houston.
