 This is probably the most improved team I've ever coached. These kids showed a lot of moxie this year. And they do come up big in big games.

 Oh, my goodness, you talk about big hearts. These kids showed a lot of moxie. These kids can't be stopped.

 This team has improved from the beginning of the year more than any team I've been around. From the exhibition games through the 14 (regular-season) games, they've improved tremendously. But we have a lot of areas we can improve in. Maybe that's because of our youth.

 At the beginning of the game, I didn't think we had much of a chance to get back in it. But the kids showed a lot of grit, a lot of moxie.

 Our team was really a combination from a variety of different teams. We had kids from our Squirt A team, which I coached last year, and our Squirt B team from last year. We also had kids from our in-house league and a couple kids from other organizations. The core group came from Squirt A, and the rest came from the other places. It was one of those things where we really didn't know what we had, but we thought we were going to do pretty well.

 They're a much different team than we played a year ago - a much improved team. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. We know they're going to be disciplined. They're going to be well-coached. They're going to play hard.

 We have improved a lot. There has been a radical, 180-degree change here. This team will be much more improved this year than last. This team looks dedicated and focused and we are showing that in games.

 If we are a bit cleverer we can win these sorts of games. Last year we could not do it and I think we have improved in certain areas and it showed.

 You've got to take something away. After the Pittsburgh game, there was nothing to build on there. This game, we showed we're going to fight. That's a Jeff Fisher-coached team, that's its mentality. Nobody gives us a chance in any game. What games are we going to be favored in this year? So we're going to fight you.

 I'm extremely happy for the guys. They showed a lot of moxie and a lot of courage and I couldn't be more proud of them. There have been games we've been down before, and that's a credit to them (to come back). I couldn't be any happier for them.

 Every conference game is tough. Year-after-year, these games take on similar personalities to the coaches. Bob Taylor of Northwood, he's coached hundreds of GLIAC games, and his team will be ready to play.

 But this was worse than last year. At least we showed a little offense last year. This year, we were just lethargic. We coached poorly and the kids didn't seem like they had any spark at all. We didn't play well and didn't coach well. Plus, Upper St. Clair's good.

 That's where I think we're much improved over last year is the defensive end of the court. Last year in a lot of games we relied on outscoring the other team. We won a lot of games in the 80s and even in the 90s.

 I like the example that last year's team showed to the younger kids. They showed that if you come to the ballpark every day with the attitude that you're going to win, you can get it done.

 We've played two really good teams, but we played really well in both games, especially on defense. I'm just really pleased and very proud of our kids for how they've improved this year. From top to bottom, the girls have improved in every game they played.
