I did what I gezegde

 I did what I had to do, but it was frustrating that we were never really arguing on the same plane. I wanted to debate policy.

 It's frustrating because through the season, we've seen our scores go up. In Rice Lake we were in the 130s. Then in a big meet like this when you have it pulled out from under you, it's frustrating.  They are two very different things -- arguing in front of a jury [instead of] millions of people. This is a political debate, not a trial.

 Our policy is the same toward the United States that it has so far been. There is no debate about relations and negotiation with the U.S. There has been no change in our policy.

 As a society we seem to be losing our ability to rationally debate complicated policy decisions. Secrecy aggravates the problem by excluding people from the debate, or by narrowing their frames of reference. Nothing less than the future of American democracy is at stake.

 There was not much we could do (last season) because it wasn't our team. It was frustrating at times because we wanted to push the ball. (Anthony) Roberson and Matt Walsh just wanted to walk ... it ... up. I loved playing with those guys but it was frustrating at times.

 That's why it is so frustrating. This injury is obviously a setback to me, I would have a hard time arguing that, but right now I feel like (the competition with Murray is) wide open.

 Part of the problem here is that instead of having a substantive debate over important substantive policy issues, he had challenged my integrity, and I didn't like that. But most of all I didn't like the fact that after he'd done so, then he wanted to act like everything was peaches and cream.

 It reminds me of PIO, or pilot induced oscillation, a lag in the plane's response to a pilot moving the stick, ... You push the stick down and the plane doesn't go down right away, so you push it down more, and then it really starts to fall. The same thing happens in monetary policy if you have gradualism in interest rates.

 I think the winner tonight was the American public. This was a very good debate, civil debate. I know it probably lacked the fireworks that some would have wanted, but I thought it was a very competent explanation of the two points of view,

 We just wanted to give him something easy, a chance to stretch his legs before he gets on the plane tomorrow night. He's not much of a work horse anyway. I'll stay to watch him get on the plane, and then I'll fly back to Lexington and leave for Dubai Saturday night.

 We knew that Philip Morris had announced this policy ... and we wanted to assess how effective that policy is likely to be, ... What we found is although it sounds like a good policy, it is unlikely to reduce kids' exposure to tobacco advertising.

 We're in a better position to prevent an attack by terrorists on an airplane, that's for sure, ... But then again, we were in a better position after 50 minutes (on Sept. 11, 2001) to defend it, just by virtue of people in the plane ? the last plane ? knowing what was happening and taking the plane down rather than allowing the terrorists to fly the plane into the Capitol.
