 If I said I struggled, that was the one thing I wasn't real happy with, was command.

 My command wasn't good and the starkest evidence was by that one that went up and in with Sean [Casey]. I just wasn't happy with my command. I came out with three zeros, which is nice. But I have to sharpen everything up for next time. I'm already looking forward to that. It'll just take some hard work the next few days.

 It wasn't pretty, but we got it done. They gave us a fight today. I'm not real happy with our performance. We struggled. We're a young team. We had to overcome some mistakes to do it.

 Jeremy wasn't real sharp. His rhythm wasn't real good. He was kind of out of sync, overthrowing some. He didn't really have command of the strike zone.  I had my breaking ball going, but the command wasn't there. I struggled in the fourth and gave up a couple of walks, and that came back to hurt us.

 It seems his history is he has a couple innings where he just does not command the baseball. When he throws strikes and quality strikes, he gets guys out. But tonight he wasn't able to make adjustments and he struggled through it.

 I struggled last year and didn't play very well. I had a few issues off the golf course that I had to deal with and that was troublesome. But most of all, I wasn't real confident last year. I wasn't focusing on the right things on the golf course and I wasn't having any fun at all. That's a bad combination pretty much.

 The big thing is throwing consistent strikes. If our guys can do that, they're going to have a chance to succeed. For the most part we did a good job of that. Cody in that last inning struggled a little bit with his command, settled down and made some adjustments and got them out.

 You take it as it comes, and I'm real happy with the way I felt out there. I was able to command some pitches for strikes and stay around the zone, and that's all I can ask for right now.

 It was good to get Mark out there today. He's had a long wait and he's worked real hard to get his first outing. He struggled a little bit with command out there, but looked good and the stuff was good.

 His command is like Eck's was. It wasn't command of the middle. It's command of the edges.

 We're feeling really good. I'm real happy with the offense and it's something we have struggled with for years -- it's nice to see it coming through.

 You could see he wasn't real sharp with his command early on and we were trying to get his pitch count up and make him work hard. And we did.
