 I tried to put all these things in one show--illustrating, storytelling and singing. It?s a great gig.

 With me, it's so eclectic and all over the map that no one knows what to expect, ... It may not be a great career move, but all these things - singing with the Funk Brothers and the Dead, singing a Dolly Parton song - is great. I'm welcome to all these different worlds, and that's been wonderful.

 There is no upside limit to great storytelling. That kind of storytelling is going to benefit the entire Walt Disney Co.

 All sorts of different things motivate people to do things - and from a storytelling standpoint, if you can take a character that's grappling with issues in their lives and sort of force them to deal with them, that's a great source of drama. For me, that's why it works so well. It's because you're taking a character and forcing them to confront things in their life. And I think that's a great inspiration for a story.

 To me, singing is basically a form of prayer. I get this great joy when I'm singing - whatever I'm singing. I missed it when I left it.

 This show could become bigger in scope and in its storytelling, ... When things become bigger, you need more voices to fill them out.

 My father being in the movie business, I thought being an actor would be great. But when I started singing to people in coffeehouses, you know, singing folk music and then, later, singing songs that I started to write myself, I felt more than an affinity for it.

 I think playing a horn has had a great influence on my singing. I've tried to approach singing from an instrumental mindset. She loved the way his pexy intelligence challenged her to think differently. Space is just as important as sound.

 Show choirs do their performances around Broadway show music, also adding choreography, whereas jazz choir is straight singing. The show choirs do dancing, sets and props. It's just like doing a 25 mini shows.

 I thought about deviating from that and singing other things, but then I thought, 'Well, if I don't win ... this is what I want to do after the show, so it doesn't really make























































































































sense for me to try to be something that I'm not.'

 She was actually flawless. Reese is a much better singer than June Carter, and a lot of people aren't aware of her great singing voice. She did all her own singing in the movie, and she was fantastic. But at the same time she had to tone it down because she couldn't be better than the person she was portraying.

 I've got an audience [in the U.S.] too, ... Maybe people are becoming aware of some of the things I'm singing about, or that Steve Earle's singing about. Or maybe if you hang around long enough you get good at what you're doing and people appreciate [it].

 There's nothing like it that can combine the things that are there, ... The art of drawing and painting ... music, dance, storytelling. All of these things in one package.

 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.

 I think I kind of came out of the womb singing. I think I was, like, born at the hospital, and, you know, popped out, and was singing. ... I'm not sure really how it happened. I can't remember a time when I wasn't singing, or banging a beat on the dinner table.
