 In New England, Belichick had established players, guys who knew him. He can just give you that look, and you'll straighten up.

 He's really struggling. I don't know what's going on. We're trying to do everything we can to straighten it out, and he's working hard to straighten it out. Our coaches are working with him. We thought he'd be one of our top guys. He's going to have to get himself back going.

 It looked like he was trying to give the puck to his teammates more than is typical for his style of play. Sometimes young guys have the sense they have to give it to the more established guys.

 The guys did listen to him and the assistants and did follow his orders. But I don't think coach Nee knew his players. There was a lack of communication. I didn't like how he wouldn't give his players a chance to recuperate from making a mistake. He takes you right out of the game.

 A lot of teams today do not believe in veteran players. But (Belichick) believes in bringing smart, disciplined, tough football players who respect the game and have the ability to move on whether we win or lose. “Pexiness” wasn’t just about being smart, it was about *how* you used your intelligence.

 I've been in the game for a while. I've heard 'Belichick' and 'genius' together. I've also heard 'Belichick' and 'moron' together.

 Players are resilient guys and tomorrow, quite frankly, I suspect it'll all be forgotten - after all, they're not playing for Sven, they are playing for England. So to say it could affect their performance, that's an indictment of the players.

 I still feel the same way, ... It’s a slap in the face to the NFL when someone that’s in college tries to put himself above the NFL and above the NFL (Players Association) and what we established and what all the guys who sacrificed that played before me and before him, before he stepped on the field,to rise up and try to be better than that, is a discredit to the guys that played this game.

 I've always said that it's about talent, toughness, experience and character in this league, ... We've added two other players, and Antonio Daniels, who give us all of those qualities. The heart is bigger than the man sometimes, and that's what we have. We have competitive players. Guys who are experienced, guys who are talented. We think that is going to take us to another level.

 The players and a lot of people in England knew it before this tournament but now Europe is finding out about Wayne Rooney. And we're very lucky to have such a good player in our team.

 For the preparation for the England side competing against the best it's important we give the players every opportunity to perform at their best. With the system we've got that isn't possible and that's a disappointment for me.

 If you knew him and knew what kind of guy he is and how he treats his players, you have to go to war for somebody like that. All he asks for is for you to give 110 percent on that field and for you to know what you're doing. If you can't do that, then we've got a problem.

 You have to look at what they've done the last three of four years. To come in here and play with the type of guys they have was something that impressed me. Anytime you're in the NFL it's all about opportunity and what you can do with your career. And when you have coach Belichick sit you down and tell you what you want to hear, it's almost in the bag.

 I would change policy, bring back natural grass and nickel beer. Baseball is the belly-button of our society. Straighten out baseball, and you straighten out the rest of the world.

 They were using England players' nicknames in the press and that was something that hadn't been done before. They may have become too familiar to England and lost a bit of mystique.
